Honestly, I'm surprised more guys don't say "screw it" and give up on hockey with being told to wait for years before starting college. Do the USHL/NAHL pay for community college classes the way the OHL does?

That's an interesting combination of major/university. Wish him well.

After watching JHU knock off Syracuse in lax playoffs today , he'd better be a heck of a lax player.

Pretty one sided article. Left out that he's probably not ready for college hockey. Not a huge guy, unimpressive stats for the rivermen this year (19 points in 56 games). Also, if he really was ready and wanted to play that bad, and was only verbally committed, there are other options.

Of course you can't blame a kid for wanting to go to JH and play for a prestigious lax program. I just don't think the negative slant towards BG and college hockey is warranted in this instance.

Seems like he figured out that he wasn't going to go any further in hockey, thus decided to hang it up. Nothing wrong with going to school and getting on with life. Obviously he wasn't ready to come in and compete for a spot at BG. This happens all the time in NCAA hockey. Agree, the slant was not necessary.

And to the above question, the NAHL/USHL does not pay for Community College classes.
