For those of you who may not know what the Hobey is, it is the award given annually for the top college player in the nation, similar to the Heisman Trophy for football. BG has had TWO past award winners, George McPhee in 1982 and Brian Holzinger in 1995. Rob Blake was a finalist in 1990, Nelson Emerson was a THREE time finalist in 1988, 1989, & 1990, Brian Hills was a TWO time finalist in 1982 & 1983. We have not had a finalist since Brian Holzinger won in 1995. I think it is time to change that!!

Nelson Emerson....now there is the guy I remember most from my days at BG. He was Awesome!
I remember in Hanna or University Hall, someone had written "Jesus Saves" on a desk. Someone else wrote "But Emerson scores on the rebound".

I've been nominating and have encouraged everyone I know to do the same. I even got 2 Michigan fans to nominate Jordan and any other Falcons they feel deserving of the award. One specifically mentioned Matsomoto. These people are Michigan hockey fans in name only, but watched the BG/UM game on TV and were impressed...especially in the first period! 
I was checking out the standings and Jonathan now has 25, so he's moved into the next round of voting.
