Falcons at RIT 10/17

Falcons came back tonight to come away with a tie against the Tigers.
The atmosphere was amazing.... the RIT students and fans packed the Blue Cross Arena full. My photos and Drew's story are up at BGSUHockey.com.
This next weekend off will be much needed for the team as they prepare for conference play coming up in a few weeks.

10,556 is the official attendance. 6th straight sellout for homecoming.
Truly an amazing atmosphere.

Hockey is their D1 sport and they don't have football. Yes, I'll agree 10,500+ for a college hockey is awesome but if BGSU didn't have football and hockey was our only D1 sport think how many people would jam into that ice arena for homecoming.
.............We would have a much bigger ice arena.

I'm happy with the tie here. On the road against a fired up RIT team in front of the biggest crowd we'll see all season. We needed a result, and we got a result.

We had a great time with the alumni reception before the game. It was good to see some of the former players make it to town and have a small reunion, share stories and enjoy an exciting game.
The huge crowd was expected as this is RIT's big event every fall. Their students do a pretty good job supporting their team. What was interesting is that since RIT is home to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, there was a large contingent of deaf fans their. Makes for a much quieter crowd than one would expect when there are almost 11,000 in the building.
It was a great time, and thanks again to everyone who made it to the Alumni event.

Ah, so that's why I saw so many ASL interpreters. This was definitely cool to see.
