End of the first, BG down 0-2.
First goal was a bad bounce off the Zamboni doors. Second was during a 5 minute powerplay. Halfway through the season, you'd think someone would have fixed those doors by now.

End of 2, still 0-2. BG has 26 seconds left on a 5 minute major powerplay.

Wow. BG scores twice in the last 3 minutes, the second goal with 6 seconds left, and earn a tie.

1 Point.............tie 2-2
For 57 minutes we didn't deserve a point and didn't play like it either, but hung around long enough to pull an incredible 2 goals in 3 minutes to tie and push it to OT.
This team may not have a hobby baker winner on it but I will tell you they are exciting and they will be in every game and I sure hope the word spreads and 4,000+ people are there tomorrow night.

Our recap and photo gallery is up. Berge was none too pleased with how the team played tonight (watch the press conference video), and with good reason.
Like it is posted above, this team struggled for most of the game. Game 2 tomorrow should definitely be interesting.

Should be played without 27 as well. Hopefully the league steps in and does the right thing. It was extremely obvious the hit was targeted towards Spezia's head. How the player wasn't given at least a game misconduct is baffling.

I am blind. I wouldn't have called a penalty on Mercier or 27.

You're definitely blind.
Not sure how Mercier gets 5, or "contact to the head. " He made no contact with the other player's head. 2 for boarding because it looked bad would have been plenty acceptable for both teams, and there were much worse hits, to the head no less, by both teams throughout the game that weren't called.
The hit by 27, on the other hand, deserves 3 games minimum. Left his feet, extended the arm, and made direct contact to the head. The exact hit the "contact to the head" penalty was written for. 5 for charging or elbowing would have been acceptable as well. There's is no way 27 should be playing tonight.

Tonight's a big game...not too many good teams on BG's schedule this year. Need to win to help those computer points. We're the highest ranked WCHA team in Pairwise and RPI Mankato and Tech are just behind us.
Currently 19th in Pairwise, 20th in RPI, and 49th out of 60 is SOS (which is so weird because everyone keeps saying how tough our schedule is, apparently not)

Mercier's hit was definitely checking from behind (which is still something leagues are trying to crack down on especially close to the boards, right?) and I can see the ref thinking there was contact to the head considering how fast things happen and the guy's head bounced off the glass pretty good.
I'll take everybody's word for the Mankato penalty since that footage didn't really seem to show a good view of it.
And I'd rather put up with a few blown calls than see hockey turn into football with soooo many video reviews taking forever on every close call.

I'd have no problem with a referee reviewing a major penalty. When it comes to throwing someone out of the game, I'd prefer they take the time to get it right.

with Schwalbe in the lineup tonight, just hope we don't take any stupid retaliation penalties.

BG up 2-1 after 2 periods. Cooper has both goals.
