"SARNIA, ON – Sarnia Sting General Manager, Nick Sinclair is pleased to announce the addition of Free Agent, Jordan Ernst.

Jordan is a 6’2”, 205 lb defenceman who split the 2015-16 season between the Madison Capitals (USHL) and Bowling Green State University (NCAA Division I).

Originally selected 5th overall by the Madison Capitals in the 2015 USHL Entry Draft, Ernst played in 16 games with the club; tallying 4 assists and 24 PIMS. The Mokena, Illinois native left the Capitals in December to join Bowling Green where he registered 2 assists in 15 contests.

The season prior (2014-15), the defenceman pitched in for 9 goals and 12 assists (21 PTS) in 26 games with the Chicago Mission U18 Club.

When asked about making the move to the OHL, Jordan commented, “I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity to play for such a great organization and I am looking forward to this journey!”

The addition of Ernst will add depth to an already sturdy Sting back-end. General Manager, Nick Sinclair adds, “We are very excited that Jordan has made the decision to join our Hockey Club for the upcoming season. He is a quality young man that will add strength and depth to our blue-line. Given his on-ice capabilities and experience; we believe that he will be a solid contributor to our group. We would like to officially welcome Jordan and his family to the Sting Organization.”"
Bring back the glory!

An opportunity for someone else to step up!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I've been wondering about Ernst's and Smith's eligibility. They enrolled in the second semester and played the second half of last season. Assuming he stays, would Smith's eligibility end after the first half of of the 2019-20 season?

No. Eligibility wise Smith will be a sophomore this year. He lost half his freshman year coming in late. It's probably why Rauhauser decided not to come in half way through last year. Smith now has 3 full years left.
