Most people already knew this since it was decided last season, but the Ice Arena will now have a video board in the south end. Hat tip to Luke Archer for the shot.

Anything to cover up that empty space above the zamboni and gift shop. Looks like that will be a good use of the area.

It'll be a great place to watch replays of all the shots right into the goalie's gut from both teams in the WCHA.

Will be a great spot to sell some advertising space as well.

Considering the Ice Arena is open to and utilized by the public year round, the advertisements sold around the sign should pay for itself quickly. Long overdue.

I can see the sales pitch now...."we'll give you a 5x5 space around the new video board...all you have to do is buy 500 season tickets to football at $5 a piece"

Nice to get a video board finally, but isn't that empty space where the future club boxes are supposed to go?

Club box on each side with kitchen/bar/bathroom facilities directly behind the screen. Also need an elevator for ADA compliance. Can't wait for it to happen so we can get our standing room back.

Putting the board back against the south wall would be way too far away for 80% of the crowd to see it.
Also, if that section ever became the club section it'd be quite a few years down the road. It'd be a multi-million dollar job just to get to ADA compliance.

There are more than two teams in the WCHA. You don't know much about hockey. #smh

Yeah...that one is on me...you're right, it doesn't read very well. Let me try again:
The video board will be a great place to watch replays of both BG and their WCHA opponents firing shots right into the goalie's gut.

Sadly, I can't dispute either of these.

I can't speak directly to Video Board as I haven't been involved in their installation, but score boards are typically "free". They typically will be paid for by soda companies that want their logo on the scoreboard. There is typically a contract for say.... 10 years.... that Pepsi or Coke or whoever, will have their name on the scoreboard in exchange for the scoreboard installation. Next time I talk to one of my clients that is getting a Vid Board, I'l ask if they are paid for the same way as a traditional scoreboard.
Glad to see it being installed.

I do believe that there was a sizeable donation made to pay for, at least, a good chunk of the board.
