Surprised the press release didn't include a notation that the RIT Coaches are Falcon Alums Wayne Wilson and Brian Hills!
Go Falcons!! Time to get a win in that damn arena!!!

Should be a sellout. The Walleye have the best record at 23-4 and averaging about 7300 per game.

End of the 1st, BG leads 2-0. Shots are 10-4, BG.
Apparently, the Walleye game is sold out. Not a large crowd for the BG game, but an extra $6 per ticket will do that.

That's 5 straight sellouts for the Walleye. Maybe we can win some fans over in Toledo and make them Falcon regulars.

End of 2, 2-0, BG. Shots 15-11, BG.
Start the third with 31 seconds left on the penalty kill. Apparently, if you hit the guy who has the puck in his feet, it's interference.

First period was the best 20 minutes of hockey I've seen from this team all year. Breakouts were crisp; everyone was where they were supposed to be. We were fast on their puck carrier. Everyone was moving their feet. I was wondering if we were that good or RIT was that bad. Answer came in the second period. We were slow. Lethargic. Sluggish. Waving arms/sticks at their puck carriers instead of moving feet/body. Felt like all the other games we've played. Nell made a couple really nice stops. I thought we were the better team all night, but a BIG difference between period 1 and 2/3. And once again, with a 5 minute man advantage, we managed only a couple of shots. Our power play needs some help. No one wants to shoot towards the net; pass, pass, pass, pass, turnover. We'll never score this way.
One thing that has bothered me about our coaching staff is how they send 3 guys below the goal line in the offensive zone. It's really hard to score from back there. I had it drilled into me from the time I played squirts that someone has to be in the slot. And that's exactly where Letourneau was when he scored our third. Baylis (I think) carried it over the blue line, D'Andrea helped dig it out, Baylis came away with it in the corner, and from behind the net found Freddie camped out front -- just like it's supposed to be done. He never scores if he's part of the scrum. Drives me crazy when I see three guys below the goal line. It happens way too often for it not to be part of how the boys are coached.
Though the Walleye game was officially a sellout, there were a ton of empty seats.

So the dimensions of the Huntington Center are bigger than the Slater Family Ice Arena. Do you think a bigger ice benefits BG game more.

The Huntington Center is a standard 200'x85' sheet of ice.

I thought Huntington Center was 200 x 100. For some reason I thought Huntington was Olympic size. Forget my question then.

I had the same thoughts. Our Falcons will not beat Bemidji playing the way they did in the 2nd and 3rd. Nell made a few excellent saves.

I agree completely. The frustrating thing is this team is clearly talented enough to take two from Bemidji at The Slate. I'm wondering if our biggest problem lies between the ears. That and nobody wanting to shoot the puck towards the net on the power play.
While watching tonight's Blue Jackets/Wild game, there was a Jackets power play and what did the left D do? Fired the puck towards the net (not
on net, but
towards the net). Deflection led to a SOG. See boys? That's all we need to do, the rest will work itself out.

They're doing that thing again where they are playing like they're afraid to make a mistake. Rather than taking the chance on a shot, they make the "safe" play and make another pass. No one wants to be the one "responsible" for missing a shot and turning the puck over.

Would you want to be the one getting the wrath by making the mistake or missing the net? It is pretty telling when we have a forward out, with what should be capable forwards to fill a slot and we dress another D man instead. I see quite a few uptight guys playing out there.

And with everybody playing to not make a mistake, what happens when one is made? It's extremely difficult to recover from that mistake, and then they keep compounding.
