WCHA Pick 'Em 2017-2018

I'm running the WCHA pick 'em thread over on the USCHO site. Thought I'd open it up to the posters here. I'll post the links for week 1, if there aren't any takers here I'll let the thread die. No pressure.
3 points for a win (regulation or NCAA OT)
2 points for a shootout win
1 point for a shootout loss (or tie in a non conference game that does not utilize a shootout)
0 points for a loss (regulation or NCAA OT)
For first couple of weeks I will not be including exhibition games, only NCAA-sanctioned games.
Hopefully it's simple (hopefully it works...). Click the link, fill out the form (don’t forget your screen name), submit your picks. I freely admit I “borrowed” this idea from Mar over on the AHC Pick ‘Em thread. A couple tweaks here and there to account for our OT rules and we’re good to go. Besides, a good idea shouldn’t go to waste. Thanks Mar, hope you don’t mind.
Good luck!

Standings through yesterday. First place currently held by 3 Falcons and a rascally Miami Stater who seems to win ever year. But not this year. This year we skate with him. This year we stay with him, and we shut him down because we can. This year, WE are the greatest WCHA Pick 'Em contestants in the world. Ok, enough of the melodrama. If my math doesn't look right let me know.

Adding a twist for Week 3. 10-pt bonus question, total SOGs in the Alaska Governor's Cup (both teams, both days). Subtract 1 pt for every number you're off by. Can't go negative.

Week 3 is in the books. Our very own Bleacher Creature himself, mbenecke, was the big winner with a total score of 42 points including pocketing all 10 bonus points with a correct pick of 102 SOGs in the first round of the Governor's Cup. Most of us picked well north of that number apparently thinking that Alaskans are better shots than they actually are. Well, I suppose not everyone can be Alaskan Bush People. The top 5 includes one Falcon, two Beavers, and two Huskies. I'm bringing up the rear of contestants who have at least 40 picks. BG guys are in first and last. Kinda like the way our team plays.

Week 4 standings are in. Congratulations to the tri-winners week: klbaum, Laker Dude, and TUPD. Rookie Bleacher Creature mbenecke extends his lead slightly over Soulbeaver while John J. MacInnes moves into a tie for second.
Everyone's favorite, bonus pick, is back for week 5.

Week 5 is in the books. WiHuskiesFan won the week with 28 points. There were 146 penalty minutes for all 5 Saturday games. Only one contestant won bonus points with a pick of 145. Yep, you guessed it...WiHuskiesFan who picked up 9 bonus points. He now moves into 4th place, only 6 points behind co-leaders Soulbeaver and mbenecke (who appeared to lose some of his mojo this week). What a week for WiHuskiesFan! Stop by the Keweenaw Brewing Company next time you're in Houghton and show them a copy of this post for a free appetizer.
Week 6 is on tap. No bonus this week (gotta earn it...).

The Week 6 tri-winners were mbenecke, SweenyHawks, and deejpuck each with a score of 25 points. If you encountered any issues submitting your picks last week let me know otherwise I'll assume Google has their act back together.
Though it's only the beginning of November, it's never too early to start thinking about bringin' home the hardware. We'll have 3 awards:
o
Broadmoor Trophy - Goes to the regular season winner as determined by total points.
mbenecke continues to top the leaderboard. Roll Along you BG warrior!
o
Mason Cup - Goes to the contestant with the highest points percentage (based solely on picks) during the regular season.
John J. MacInnes currently leads the pack with the highest pick percentage (min 60 games) at .689. Pretty impressive.
o
McNaughton Cup - Goes to the playoff winner.
Top 16 qualify for the playoffs based on total points plus a number of tiebreakers. More on that later.
Bonus is back for week 7.

Huge week for points. UAFIceAngel was the weekly winner with 30. UAFIceAngel and MTUHuskies each nailed the bonus this week with a guess of 54 goals while 23 contestants racked up at least 1 bonus point. As for picks, puckdude scored points in every game except Friday's NMU-UAA match and catapults his way to 9th place (and a #3 playoff seed) while
BGSURick takes over the lead in the race for the Mason Cup with a pick percentage of .683 (minimum 60 picks). The peleton creeps a little closer to
mbenecke whose lead over John J. MacInnes is now down to 7. giwan and WiHuskiesFan lead the way in the "Thank God for bonus points!" category.
Reminder: Tee time for Bemidji at Princeton is this Wednesday at 7:00pm EST!

Bonus is back, but it's only a 5-pointer so pick wisely.
