WMU (12/28)

Post by mbenecke »

All time against WMU in hockey, we are 71-59-8.

We haven’t beaten them since 1/18/13, and we have lost 6 straight against them by a combined score of 22-9 over that stretch. We are on a pretty sour stretch with these guys. It’s time to finally get over that and get a win, especially since it is at our place and we’ll be pretty much back at full strength. Hoping to see many fans come out and support the Falcons against the #12 team in the country next Thursday night!

I think if we can get to 4 goals, we will win. But that's a big if with our offense.

Well Bednard and the team didn't come to play the first 12 minutes at least.

Down 3-0 already. WMU scores 3 goals on only 6 shots.

Make that 4 goals. Wow. Completely dominated and not focused.

Officiating didn't get any better over the break. Still waiting on BG to show up.

They are big and fast and our defense is struggling to keep up. Their guys are open all over the place. We're hesitating on dumping the puck into the offensive zone which slows up our chasers which gives them time to breakout. Not a good combination. Dop is in goal. Bad first period.

This team is still on winter break. Left at 4-0,
Call it what you want, bigger, faster, or more skilled.
Flat out not ready to play college hockey and this is what you get.

Not a great result, but I'm glad we curbed it before it got too ugly.

I'm encouraged by Dop's play. I'm a little nervous about Bednard, but I think most of it was starting slow after being on the holiday break.

Time to bounce back on Monday and beat UofM.

If this team ever figures out how to play a full 60 minutes, they will be almost unstoppable. Until then, I guess we'll all have to settle for mediocrity.

I hope they figure it out in about nine weeks. And then have one month of unstoppable play. 2018 National Champions.
