The Hockey student section is moving to the closed end of the Ice Arena! It will be behind the opposing goaltender for 2 periods and be right next to the band, for a unified student cheering section. Lots of sound coming from down at that end!

I think being behind the taller glass is going to reflect the sound back at you and not onto the ice.

The most notable change to seating at BGSU Hockey games for the upcoming season is that student general admission has moved from its previous location in section E, to the north stands.

The words "most notable" imply there are other changes. Wonder what those are?

To combat the taller glass issue, the Bleacher Creatures (the ones with the loudest voices) plan to sit at the top of the lower section, so our noise can travel over the glass and onto the ice. I understand where you're coming from, though, and we'll have to make sure to experiment and determine what works best for us and for the atmosphere as a whole.

The other change that I know of is that they are adding a "President's ice box" for that end, as well. It'll sit right on the glass, where the back judges used to be. We got rid of those extra officials. If that wasn't already public knowledge, it is now.

I think this as well. In my opinion, i think there are more chances to interact with the other team when you are closer to their bench. Overall, I don't think either section is "better"...it all comes down to filling up the student section and getting loud.

This is interesting to me. I wonder if we will no longer have goal judges, or if they will be moved into the announcer's box like most teams in the NHL.

Goal judges haven’t been a requirement in the NCAA for a couple years now.

So the students will surround the president's box? That sounds like a brilliant idea. I hope it's sound proof.

It's completely open, just like the ice boxes on the other side. President Rogers actually wants to invite students to sit in the box with him at the game. From what I've heard, he's very committed to increasing attendance and support for the hockey program, which is something I'm really encouraged by.
