The new USCHO poll was revealed on Monday afternoon and our Falcons are still #10 in the country.
A big early season battle with 6 league points on the line is on tap this weekend as we take on the Lake Superior State Lakers (5-2-1). LSSU has surprised early on this season, with their biggest result coming in the form of a 5-2 win over Michigan. Ultimately, this will be a good test for our guys, and it's two huge opportunities to take league some points and show out in front of the home crowd, so I hope our boys take advantage of it. It's Heroes Appreciation weekend, so they will certainly be honoring veterans at both games. Friday night's puck drop is slated for 7:37pm, and Saturday night's game will begin at 7:07pm.
Goaltender Stats
LSSU
Nick Kossoff: GAA - 2.94, SV% - .891, 3-0-1

BGSU

End of 2, BG down 0-2.
Shots are 20-8, BG.
Those are 20 easy shots. I don't think there's really been that many. BG has only shown life for the first 2 minutes of the game and again the last 2 minutes of the second period.

Ended in a 0-5 loss.
The amount of effort posting in this thread tonight is far and above the amount showed on the ice.

These are the types of games that cost us at the end of the year. They need to dig down deep and put forth a much better effort tomorrow night.

14th in pairwise.
Won't see the Top 10 again unless we sweep Minnesota state. This team looks like a 3rd or 4th place team in the WCHA. Zero urgency, losing hustle battles, and puck movement especially on the PP is minimal at times. Back to having to win the league title, on the road to go to the tournament. Better get this funk fixed or home ice going to be a problem.

Pretty sure a team could study tape from the Mercyhurst game and be prepared to play this team. LSSU knew where the puck was going before BG even had it on their stick. With the amount of video available now, you cannot run the exact same system like robots.
And someone please win a damn faceoff.

Going to be? How many games has BG lost at home in the last several years, that they should have won? Seems like they get our hopes up early, usually by winning a game or two on the road they shouldn't, and then seem to fizzle out. Very frustrating.

Hit the WCHA style of play and officiating and the goals stop....

I'm listening to the game on radio, can't see what's happening; is there a reason for a penalty being called every 30 seconds?

Incompetent officials. They blew the whistle on a faceoff because LSSU had 5 skaters to BG's 4 (was 4 on 4). Ref was too stupid to realize they had pulled their goalie.

Horribly officiating game. BG's power play is even more offensive. Need to get that corrected if they want to have success come later in the season.

Tough game Friday night, not a whole lot of energy all the way around.
Much better effort on Saturday, given the tough officiating. Disappointed in the PP, but happy to score 5 goals any time we can.
Happy to take another win and have a shot at 6 more WCHA wins before Christmas. Lots of points up for grabs in the coming weeks against UAH and Ferris State, plus a big opportunity having Mankato on our home ice,so I hope the team enjoys their break after this Wednesday night's exhibition (which Coach said is an opportunity to rest guys) and I hope they come back hard ready for the next few weeks. We need to finish the first half strong.
