Big weekend series on the road up in Houghton. Tech is coming off a tough previous weekend having been swept by Mankato, before that they lost in the GLI final again, this time to LSSU. They'll likely be fired up and looking to get on the right side of the ledger and currently sit just two points behind the Falcons.

I have a small preview written up and I plan to post it when the new USCHO poll comes out slightly after noon today. I appreciate the eagerness to discuss - this is a MASSIVE series for us.

The new USCHO poll has been released, and Bowling Green is ranked 10th in the country.

Coming off their series split with Bemidji State, our Falcons will now travel to Houghton, MI for perhaps the biggest remaining series of the regular season against Michigan Tech (10-10-2). I’m a little worried that they’re better than their record shows. Both games will begin at 7:07pm.

This series is important for us, and it's one that we need to show we belong in. We now sit 2nd in the WCHA standings, trailing Minnesota State by 2 points, so it's imperative that we keep winning to keep the pace with those at the top of the conference. Northern Michigan only trails us by a single point, and this Tech team is only 2 back from us, as well.

Margin for error walked out the door on last Thursday night with the 3 - 2 loss.

State is at Ferris, which we'd assume they'd sweep
Northern is at Alaska and assume they'd sweep

We are in a nearly must sweep scenario. Though will be difficult on the road, Tech will hamper us just as bad a Bemjij did with a loss in the pairwise. Sweep this weekend and opportunity will be next weekend to move back into first given the schedule in the league as long as BG keeps winning.

Everybody in the league has played an equal amount of games. Still need 3 more points than Mankato to get ahead of them, while not allowing anybody behind to catch up. Starts with a win tonight.

BG scored a goal, but the officials decided to make up a "man in the crease rule," so they waived it off. There was no contact with the goalie, which would have been goaltender interference. Officially waived it off for "man in crease," which no longer exists.

Hate to say it but our team isn't that great. They have plenty of talent but are lacking an it factor. Mental toughness, preparedness to bring it every weekend, killer instinct. They show up for "big games" which is great, but the program hasn't figured out how to be consistent through a season and beat lower ranked conference teams. Forget anything but a long shot conference playoff win until they do.

We'll likely find ourselves in the 4th spot in the conference after tonight.

Right on pace for that 3rd place finish! Clear out another spot in the trophy case.

Actually paid to watch this BS tonight. Pairwise is done. Beautiful in 2nd weekend of January that we now have to win the league tournament to get in. 2nd round home series would be nice, but so would going to the NCAA tournament. Damn, most talented team Bergeron has had, but lacking desire and leadership. Could it be our guys are looking forward to a professional career or being drafted? NHL scout that was sitting near us after minnie state sweep, keep it up and you're going to find yourself in the top 5 and at minimum a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament.
