Sorry mbenecke, I needed to open this thread. I'll hold off on doing your recap.
I'm looking to trade my 2 Sat tickets in Sec G for 2 Fri tickets. PM me if this works for you. Thanks.

Haha, I'm writing it right now. No worries! Always happy to see others eager to discuss some Falcon Hockey.

ROUND 1: vs. Michigan Tech (3/8-3/10)
Following last night's 7-1 thrashing of Alabama Huntsville, we are now heading to the playoffs. We have clinched the 3-seed for the 2nd consecutive year, and we will be hosting the Michigan Tech Huskies in the first round for a best-of-three series. The first game starts Friday night at 7:37pm, while Saturday and a potential Game 3 Sunday will both start at 7:07pm.
Guys, it's Michigan Tech. I feel like I could say that and be done with it, and everyone would know just how important this game is.
From our results against them the past few years to our many battles in postseason play like the devastating 2017 2OT Championship game loss or other tournaments like the GLI Championship win last year, it has never been easy against these guys. They will be traveling in drove to get here, and they'll without a doubt be well-represented in the seats at the Slater Family Ice Arena, so I ask that all who are able to come on out, wear your orange, and bring your voice as we try to make this one of the best atmospheres of the year. It's going to be an absolute war, and we need every single person who can get there to do so and get loud.
Tech (14-18-4) is admittedly coming into this weekend on a cold streak. They have only won 3 of their last 12, and the only team they have beaten since we went up to Houghton in mid-January is last-place Anchorage, who they beat 3 times in that span. Most recently, they were swept 4-2 and 3-0 by Northern Michigan. They may be licking their wounds coming here this weekend, but there is a history to this rivalry, and they are still the 2-time defending WCHA Tournament Champions until someone proves otherwise.
Goaltender Stats:
BGSU
Ryan Bednard GAA - 1.80, SV% - .923, 16–6-4
Eric Dop GAA - 1.34, SV% - .948, 5–3-1
MTU
Robbie Beydoun GAA - 1.98, SV% - .931, 4–6-1
Matt Jurusik GAA - 2.33, SV% - .912, 9–9-2
Devin Kero GAA - 2.40, SV% - .909, 1-3-1
Leave your PLAYOFF thoughts and predictions below. It's time to get it done, folks. Go Falcons!

It's going to be a tough weekend. I see it going to 3 games, but I am not sure who will win Sunday.
Usually the students are on spring break the first round of the playoffs, but doesn't look like that this year. Hopefully we get a good turn out. There will be a lot of tech fans in BG next weekend, hopefully it won't sound like a tech home game.

Scott Slater has paid for the first 1,000 student tickets in each game, at $5 a pop. Great donation from a great booster around this program. The Slate will absolutely be rocking, and it's gonna be packed, so don't plan on waiting to buy your tickets until the last minute.

We've seen both characters EVERY weekend in 2019. I don't have any evidence to make me think we won't see both again this weekend.
Down 1-0 mid 1st

Tech band is in the house. What they lack in talent they make up for in enthusiasm.

Rauhauser hit the post on a major penalty power play and Tech came down to score. 2-0 Huskies.

BG wins 3-2 with a two minute flurry of goals by Ford, Letorneau, and Johnson. Big scrum at the end and it looked like Baylis may have done something to his left hand.

Stephen Baylis appeared to sustain a wrist injury in the end-of-game melee. Chris Bergeron said Baylis is headed to the hospital right now and "it doesn't look good."

Any suspensions for fighting at the end of the game? If so, that could impact the rest of the series.

That scrum didn't look good. Wright was grabbed by players from the tech bench and the players on their bench threw out some punches. Will be interesting to see if anyone gets suspended.
According to the stats on
https://bgsufalcons.com/sidearmstats/mh ... pe=Penalty, Baylis got a 5 minute major for cross checking. Only major given out. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you get a major penalty when the game is over, isn't that an automatic suspension? Not that it will matter, since he will probably be out with an injury anyway.
