Following a 7-4 win at Miami, our Falcons (1-0-0) head north on I-75 to host the Ice Breaker tournament as the #17 team in the nation. BG plays RIT in the late game on Friday night at 8:00pm, following the matchup between #12 Ohio State and #14 Western Michigan. This tournament is structured similar to the GLI that we won a few year ago, so with a win we will get the winner and with a loss we will get the loser. Regardless, I hope our boys are fired up for this one - I want that trophy.
RIT’s last game out was a win on the road at Colgate, 3-1. WMU’s last game out was an exhibition win over Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, 6-1. OSU’s last game out was an exhibition win over Western, 5-2.
Recent Results:
Last game vs. RIT: W 3-0 (Huntington Center)
Last 5 vs. WMU:
W 4-1
W 6-2
L 5-2
L 3-1
L 8-2
Last 5 vs. OSU:
T 2-2
W 8-2
L 6-1
L 5-4
W 2-0
It’s early in the season, so I will use career stats to give a more accurate picture of each probable net-minder’s ability:
BGSU
Jr. Eric Dop... GAA - 2.14, SV% - .915, 14–7-3
RIT
Jr. Logan Drackett... GAA - 2.86, SV% - .899, 22–26-6
OSU
Jr. Tommy Nappier... GAA - 1.76, SV% - .938, 16-4-3
WMU
Sr. Ben Blacker… GAA - 2.89, SV% - .902, 29-23-4
If you can make it to the game, great! I highly suggest that we fill that arena with as much orange and brown as possible. We are the hosts, after all. If you cannot make it, the game appears to be available to stream on FloHockey. You can also listen to Ryan Vallon on the radio call, or follow @ BGFalconHockey on Twitter for updates throughout the game. Go Falcons!

There's a Groupon deal for $20 tickets for each day's games. They're in the last 3-4 rows of each section but you're in the building. Ticket sales look rather putrid right now, but hoping things move a bit this week.

Appears it's sold out.

I feel like tonight's game might be a bit of a trap.

I get a little bit of that feeling, too. Hopefully we come in focused and ready to win a trophy.

Game supposed to start at 8pm.....projected start time is now 9:15.
Games were scheduled to tight together, left little major for error if game went to OT which of course it did.

3-2 L to RIT
Let our foot off the gas after 1st period. 32 shots total and 15 in the 1st period. Hopefully, RIT proves to be good.
Bad thing is now we have to play western 3 straight times.

That was inexcusable.

Tough OT loss. Thought the boys played pretty good though.
Pretty tired of hearing about berge. Can we get a moratorium on berge talk until we actually play them again?

Who is talking about Bergeron? No one posts much of anything.
Nothing like an 8pm losers bracket game. Gonna have to show a little more effort to finish in 3rd place this year.

Disappointing loss. Too many defensive breakdowns and an inconsistent effort.

What game were you watching? BG looked very off tonight, just no flow and aggressiveness at all. Defensemen constantly out of position. Power play was brutal. Haha let’s hope this was a fluke

Not a great loss to take last night. It’s time to bounce back this evening.
