@ Anchorage (11/15-11/16)

Post by mbenecke »

After the off week, our Falcons (5-4-0) will head to the Last Frontier to battle the UAA Seawolves (2-4-2). Both games are slated for an 11:07pm EST puck drop. Both games this weekend will be available to stream on FloHockey. You can also listen to Ryan Vallon on the radio call, or follow @BGFalconHockey on Twitter for updates throughout the game.

Ultimately, while traveling to Alaska is tough on the body, there’s no reason we shouldn’t emerge from the weekend with 2 wins. With where we want to be as a program, we can’t afford to drop a game here. This is not a good team we’re playing, and we need to play to our level, not down to theirs. Period.

I’m looking forward to seeing their new little 750-seat area. Certainly not an ideal situation for college hockey, but should be interesting to see regardless.

Projected Goaltender Stats:

BGSU
Jr. Eric Dop... GAA - 2.61, SV% - .900, 5–3-0

UAA
So. Kristian Stead... GAA - 3.17, SV% - .900, 2-2-1
Jr. Kris Carlson... GAA - 2.25, SV% - .912, 0-2-1

I hope the off week has served us well and we come out hot. Let’s grab a pair of wins this weekend.

I've bounced across a couple of Flo Hockey games from it......just looks like Ferris from TV. Benches and a wall.

That's a generous comparison. FSU's listed capacity is 2,500.

Probably more comparable to OSU's old Ice Dink. That place didn't even have regulation sized ice.

Hate to say it but I think BG drops a game this weekend. They had a tough time against Anchorage last year in their barn, and they seem to be a little bit improved this year, at least on paper.

Fair to say. I just hope we get the Friday Falcons from the last few series, not the Saturday version.

I know we can win games, I just want to see some consistency now.

Add to their improvement the amount of butt hurt they're feeling over us bailing on the league and this will be a much tougher weekend than you'd normally expect.

Johnson and Ford each with a breakaway; each missed the net.

We’ve played well the first 8 min.

BG leads 2-0 after the first. I think I'm off to bed now. Please don't lose while I'm gone.

Shots were 13-3 us. Left a couple guys wide open out front. Fortunately they couldn’t take advantage. Good period. Can’t let up.
