vs./@ Notre Dame (11/29-11/30)

After a split against Lake Superior State, our Falcons (8-5-0) come up to an important non-conference series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-2-2) out of the Big Ten. We'll play in South Bend on Friday night, and they'll make the trip east on Saturday night. Both games will begin just after 7:00pm EST. Saturday night's will be available to stream on FloHockey. You can also listen to Ryan Vallon on the radio call, or follow @BGFalconHockey on Twitter for updates throughout the game. It would be great if we could pull in a great crowd on Saturday night for this classic CCHA rivalry game. Ultimately, while this game may not count for the WCHA standings, it would be huge if we could steal some wins this weekend from one of the best teams in the country.

Projected Goaltender Stats:

BGSU
Jr. Eric Dop... GAA - 2.00, SV% - .919, 8–4-0

Notre Dame
Sr. Cale Morris... GAA - 2.39, SV% - .913, 5-2-2

Let’s go Falcons!

Hopefully a decent turnout crowd wise. Stopped and picked up a General Admission ticket today. $22.00. Unreal.

Yup, that's a premium game price for you nowadays.

It's really a shame that this is a game that will take place while students are off campus for the holiday (same with Miami on December 30 and the January NMU and MSU series as well). Big games should have big crowds, but our own schedule works against that cause for us.

Don’t know this for sure so this is pure speculation, but it’s possible this was a stipulation that Notre Dame asked for. They’ve been known to be “rigid” with their scheduling.

Oh, that's certainly a possibility. I'll take them coming to our building any time we can make it happen. I just wish it was a more ideal situation, with students making it a true Madhouse.

Well... I’m not able to watch tonight (I’ll be in the building tomorrow night, though!) but I just checked the score.

Our Falcons lead 4-1 after the 2nd period on the road against the #5 team in the country.

Now 5-1.
I'm listening to ND radio, and it sounds like Dop is standing on his head and Kruse's goal was spectacular.

I wouldn’t say Dop is standing on his head. He’s made a couple nice saves, but the D is limiting quality chances in front of him. Doing a nice job disrupting ND’s transition, too. Game is on the NBC app, by the way!

BG wins it, 5-2! That’s our 2nd top-5 road win this season.

Now, let’s show up tomorrow night and weather the storm in our building.

Our game last night made the CHN roundup. https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/ ... beaten.php" target="_blank

The last sentence rings true:
Jackson said "I don't need to talk to them too much in a game like that afterwards. I need to get my emotions where they need to be first. I know how they feel. They're just gonna have to respond to it."
We seem to play so well on Friday but can't carry it through to Saturday. Certainly the other team has to dig deep and respond to the spanking they got but it sure would be fun to see us come out tonight with the same intensity as Friday.

And while it's too early to watch the pairwise, a win or tie tonight will go a long ways towards building up some math reserves when we inevitably drop that game to Huntsville.

If Mankato keeps winning and BG can win one of the 3 remaining games vs ND/Mankato we’ll probably get in. Yes they will drop a couple games to bad WCHA teams, but there aren’t going to be enough losses to hurt them.

This is the best BG team since 1988. Eigner is a much better game day coach than Bergeron. I don’t know if he can run the program and recruit (that hasn’t been proven yet), but the team responds to him and doesn’t seem intimidated against anyone.

We weathered the initial storm and settled down nicely. Turning into a typical WCHA physical game. 2-1 good guys after 1.

Wow. That Wright goal was a beauty. Tic-tac-toe.
