Following the weekend sweep of Quinnipiac, our 9th-ranked Falcons (8-1-0) will have a short holiday break before hosting Robert Morris (5-2-0) at the Slater Family Ice Arena on Tuesday, December 29th at 3:07pm for a matinee game. It should be available to stream on
https://www.flohockey.tv/" target="_blank.
Earlier this month, our Falcons beat Robert Morris on the road, 6-3. We have the opportunity to finish off this non-conference series sweep next Tuesday to push our record to 9-1-0 on the year heading into the conference play, and I am confident our guys will be ready for this one.
I always like to post stats with these short write-ups before series, and now that we've gotten a decent sample size of a season so far, I'll do that below.
Top 5 Scorers in the WCHA so far this season:
1. Cameron Wright (BGSU)... 11 points (5G, 6A)
T-2. Connor Ford (BGSU)... 10 points (4G, 6A)
T-2. Brandon Kruse (BGSU)... 10 points (4G, 6A)
4. Alex Barber (BGSU)... 9 points (5G, 4A)
T-5. Max Johnson (BGSU)... 8 points (6G, 2A)
T-5. Taylor Schneider (BGSU)... 8 points (2G, 6A)
Goaltender Stats:
BGSU
Sr. Eric Dop... GAA - 2.00, SV% - .917, 5–0-0
So. Zack Rose... GAA - 1.27, SV% - .931, 3-1-0
Robert Morris
Fr. Noah West… GAA - 2.34, SV% - .927, 2-1-0
Sr. Dyllan Lubbesmeyer… GAA - 3.70, SV% - .876, 2-1-0
Gotta keep it rolling. Go Falcons - Beat Robert Morris!

I haven't heard any updates, but I'm hoping he's alright. That would be an absolutely massive loss.

In the new USCHO poll, our Falcons are now the #7 team in the country. Anyone know the last time we were ranked this high? I’ll probably research it at some point this week, but I’d love to know if anyone can remember the last time.

Pretty sure March 1995 was the last time we were in the top 5 of the then WMPL college hockey poll. We were number 5 on March 13th 1995. Can't believe we would have reached that high since, certainly not anytime from 1995 -2010......the dark years.

We hit 6 in January of 2015. Prior to that the last time we were ranked at all was in November of 1996 where we were 7th. In October of 1996 we were ranked 3rd.

Yep...That's right we started 96-97 out 6-0, including a couple of wins over BC, and then lost 13 of 16.....to basically disappear for the next two decades.....

Lineups for this afternoon:
Kruse-Scardina-Wright
Gould-Ford-Dougherty
Craggs-Schneider-Barber
Danol-Fyten-Conquest
Theocharidis-Daly
Wells-Cullen
Musser-Lloyd
Malmstrom
Rose-Dop-Rich
Notably, we’re without Max Johnson against. I’ve heard no update on him yet, since his apparent injury at Quinnipiac, but I really hope he’s able to work his way back soon. We need him out there.

Somebody needs to go find the person in charge of the Flo production and beat them to a pulp with a hockey stick. The rapid fire camera changes and zooming has made this first 5 minutes almost unwatchable.

END OF 1: We're tied at 0.
We went 0/3 on the power play in the first period. Not good enough - we need to take advantage of our opportunities when we get them.
RMU leads shots, 9-7.

That's BG's doing, isn't it? It is fun when the puck is not on the screen.

Yes. A BG person is in charge of the Flo production. They are obviously not hockey savvy at all. BG produces one of the worst video productions in the NCAA. D3 Adrian was leaps and bounds better. BG can't even find a replay of penalties. It's also not a new thing this year.

RMU strikes first with 3:38 left in the first period. 1-0, RMU.
We need to be sharper.

BG just doing a lot of standing around and watching RMU skate after loose pucks.....pretty much the worst effort of the year so far through two periods.

END OF 2: RMU leads, 1-0.
BG will be on a 5x3 PP for about 15 seconds to start the third, then about a minute after that with a 5x4. Really would be nice to capitalize on this huge opportunity.
RMU continues to lead in shots, 20-15. This has been the biggest difference compared to other games this season. For reference, we outshot them 40-18 in the first match-up, so credit to the Colonials for a solid gameplan to keep us in check. Here's hoping that Coach Eigner can make some adjustments for the third.
