Jack Vivian Passes Away

Post by BGDrew »

Jack Vivian passed away today. Falcon hockey fans have a debt of gratitude to Mr. Vivian’s for his life-long contributions to the program. He helped complete the arena, was the varsity program’s first head coach, was a key figure in the Bring Back the Glory campaign and subsequent renovations, and an overall figurehead of the program.

Very sad to see the news. BG hockey and really the community at large owes so much to him.

Sad News.

Dr Vivian was my advisor when I was at BGSU and I also did an internship with him in 1992 when he was up at the University of Michigan running Yost arena. He took the old, run down Yost (some of you might remember it from the late 70's and 80's) and made it into what it is today.

He saved many arenas all over the country and many youth hockey programs exists today only because of Dr Vivian's skill, knowledge and efforts.

Obliviously his effect on College Hockey is well know....the original CCHA, BG's program, Miami's program. Michigan's program etc....

RIP....Jack.

Sad news. Had the pleasure of meeting him in 2008 when my brother and I coached the clubbers. Great man who loved BG hockey, and was a major cog in saving the program. The current players owe a lot to him for the efforts he undertook to get alumni involved in bringing the program back to national prominence.

He'll be greatly missed.

We’ve decided to take the lead on honoring Mr. Vivian for his contributions. Sign our petition to dedicate the main ice surface at the ice arena to Jack Vivian Rink at Slater Family Ice Arena. https://www.change.org/p/bowling-green- ... ack-vivian
