@ Michigan - Ex. (10/2)

Post by mbenecke »

Our Falcons will be heading north to Ann Arbor this Saturday, October 2 at 7:00pm to take on the preseason #3 team in the country, the Michigan Wolverines. This will be an exhibition contest.

UM has 3 of the top 5 picks in the 2021 NHL draft (including #1 and #2 overall) back on their roster for this season, so this will obvious be a stiff test for our young, inexperienced, and unproven Falcon hockey team. Here's hoping that we put up a good fight on Saturday, giving us some momentum for the season.

The game will be available to stream on BTN+.

I going to assume BTN+ requires a subscription?

Yes, and from what I could tell, you can only buy an annual subscription, and it's $59.99.

So... this will be a Twitter update/radio kind of game, for me.

A monthly conference pass is available for $14.95 per month. Click the link below and select Choose Conference Pass. An option to go month-by-month will be available. I'm debating but will likely do the Twitter thing as well.

Edit: One can also go the single school route. Same link, select the Choose School Pass option then select Michigan. One month is only $9.95. I'm likely going this route.

It will be a good introduction to college hockey for the new guys. scUM has a lot of "talented individuals." They are fast, but very beatable. And it's an exhibition. Everybody should get a look at some point during the game (not really expecting Eigner between the pipes though).

Two questions that have been burning a hole in my psyche for a week or so:

Captain and alternate(s)?
Play-by-play voice?

The leadership group last year consisted of Connor Ford (C), Brandon Kruse (A), and Alex Barber (A).

Seeing as Barbs is the only guy returning from that group, I would guess he's probably the guy with the C this year?

Other guys I see as potential options to wear a letter of some kind include Sam Craggs (extra year), Taylor Schneider (senior), Evan Dougherty (senior), and TJ Lloyd (junior).

I have no idea who will be calling games on the radio. I'm eager to learn that, as well.

Just announced; Barber(C), Craggs(A), and Dougherty(A). You should run out and buy a PowerBall ticket while you're still hot!

Not surprising, but Michigan leads 4-0 after the 1st period.

Shots are 18-6 in their favor. This could be an ugly season.

The first game this group is playing with a lot of new faces is against arguably the most talented team ever seen in college hockey. By no means is it a harbinger of things to come.
