Following the exciting weekend series with Miami, our Falcons (2-0-2) will head to the "state of hockey" to begin conference play against the Bemidji State Beavers (3-3-0). Game 1 will be Friday, October 29 at 8:07pm EST, with Game 2 coming on Saturday, October 30 at 7:07pm. Both games will be available to stream at
https://www.flohockey.tv/.
Bemidji has an interesting resume so far, losing 3 straight to open and then winning 3 straight, all against fairly solid competition. They own 2 losses to Duluth and a loss to North Dakota, but they also own a road win against North Dakota, as well as 2 road wins at Northern Michigan.
This will be a challenging series for us to begin league play, and we really need to be ready for it, because the schedule doesn't get any easier from here. Here's hoping for some positive results this weekend.
Go Falcons! Beat Bemidji.

Real first test of the season. Falcons have struggled in Bemidji in the past, maybe some of the new faces will help to change that narrative. There's definitely still a lot to work on from an X's and O's perspective, but I'm pleasantly surprised the team is still undefeated after playing three true road games.

I'd be happy with a loss and a shootout W/L. I'd be ecstatic with a split. But I wouldn't be surprised if we went 0-fer. I'm looking at the first half of this season as a reset while hoping/expecting to see improvements in the second half. Peak in Feb/March like Northern did last year.

Peak? We're the last undefeated team in the country! How much better could it get?
But in all seriousness, I agree with your assessment. A split would be awesome, but signs of improvement probably won't come until later.

Mattias Sholl, the brother of Tomas (former Falcon) was named CCHA goaltender of the week for Bemidji.

Well, based on seeing BSU a couple of times and BG now a few times, I would say that I would gladly take a split this weekend.
Outside of their goalie issues, BSU has looked pretty good against good competition and we have looked fairly pedestrian against average to poor competition.
BG has not seemed to play very well in Bemidji the last few seasons, however most of those guys are no longer on the roster, so maybe theses guys have a clean slate at the Sanford Center.
Anyone know Barber's status? Did he make the trip?

Very defensive game so far. We killed several penalties early.

Bemidji gets a goal with 5.8 seconds left in the first period.
They’re kicking the hell out of us, even though it’s 1-0. Granted, we can’t expect to do much on offense when we’re on the kill 4 times in the first. But still. That was ugly.

There’s not a lot to critique other than stay out of the box. Beavers are a good team.

GOAL!
BG starts the 2nd period HOT and gets a quick goal to tie it, thanks to Chrys Collin.

Rose and our defense are keeping us in the game so far. A formula that's worked for us in previous seasons. First to 3 is the winner basically

GOAL!!
Coale Norris gets a late goal in the 2nd period, and BG now leads 2-1 with 16 seconds to play in the middle frame.
