Following our own split with Ferris State this past weekend, our Falcons (8-5-3) will next have a home and home series with the #17 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-6-0). Thursday's Game 1 in Columbus will be available to watch on Big Ten Network at 7:00pm, while Friday's Game 2 inside the Slater Family Ice Arena will be available to stream through FloHockey.tv at 7:07pm.

Nathan Burke admitted in a postgame interview on Saturday that this is a series that our boys have had circled on the calendar for a while (we haven't seen Ohio State since October of 2018) so I'm hoping for a set of great games this weekend. Certainly our fans are ready for Friday night's game - while many students will unfortunately be heading home for winter break when their finals finish this week, the rest of the arena looks to be pretty packed, as (by my count) there are just 13 reserved tickets remaining for this one, and GA admission is already down to medium. So I'm expecting a crowd of ~4,000+ on Friday night.

Let's go Falcons! Beat Ohio State!

If you're driving down to the game in Columbus and usually get on Olentangy River Road (315) south of Delaware, note that there will probably be a road closure on 315. It's between Home Road and Orange Road. ODOT advises taking 23 south to Powell Road (750), then turn west on 750 to connect with 315. The "Road Closed" sign was up Monday, 12/13, and per ODOT the road closure is supposed to last through Friday, 12/17.

Get to Friday game early! Expect long slow lines to parking lots off Mercer with commencement in Stroh at same time as the hockey game in Slater. Coming from north on Mercer is not good option as no assistance is provided for traffic to turn toward ice arena parking lot. The security is only concerned with pedestrian traffic. Historically, the university denies access off Wooster when events are at the Stroh; all traffic ends up on Mercer.

Heading into enemy territory tonight with my brother and a friend! Anybody else secure a spot at the Schott?? Last time there (10/26/18), I was down near the glass in section 123 for EIGHT (8) Beautiful Goals... Let's get that energy fired up and slay these Buckeyes! Let us know where the Falcons are congregating tonight!

Notes from last time in Columbus:

The No. 15 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team defeated the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in game one of their home-and-home series by a decisive 8-2 final in the Schottenstein Center in Columbus on Friday night. The Falcons scored eight times on 28 total shots on goal. Sophomore Max Johnson tallied his first career hat trick scoring three power play goals in the contest. Freshman forward Alex Barber would score his first career goal for the Orange and Brown. Senior captain Stephen Baylis would score a five on three shorthanded goal late in the game to complete the scoring for Bowling Green. He is just the second player in school history to do so. With this win, the Falcons collect their first victory over a top 10 ranked team since Mar. 11, 2012...

I was also at that game. Enjoyed the OSU faithful filing out of the Schott at the second intermission. Also enjoyed hearing “B…G...S…U” drown out “o..h..i..o” during Hang On Sloopy.

Funny thing, the guide on my TV says "From The Ohio State University Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio." Every time I've heard that, it's been in reference to the Rinky Dink.

I'd be interested to know from anyone at the game tonight what percentage of the crowd is wearing orange. Last few times I was there it was at least 1/3.

The best part was that one of their student sports reporters called it a "hijacking" and "the most disrespectful thing I'd ever seen."

Started slow. Burke had a skillful goal and BG got their legs moving.

Went to that last game in 2018, great rout and enjoyed out cheering the osu fans. Always seems that they schedule this series for winter break. Wish they wouldn’t so there could be a big student section.

Barber pots one and it's 3-0. Gotta feel good for him being a local kid.
