vs. Northern Michigan (2/18, 2/19)

Important home series against a foe who has been a thorn in the side of this program for quite some time. I'll be at Friday's game, first time this season. Finally feel good about taking my dad to a game with covid numbers starting to decline.
Hope for a sweep but a split feels like the best case scenario.

Gonna be a tough series. I’m looking forward to being in the building on Saturday for Senior Night.

Barber must of decided that tonight's the night he's going to play this weekend.
Score a goal
1-1

Barber gets a penalty and now we are down 2-1. Maybe he's only playing every other shift

Started out hot. Frustrating to be down 2-1.

Really weird period. Started hot, they responded quickly, they got one on a 5x3, and then we closed the period pretty strongly.
Need to play cleaner hockey, man. Stay out of the box - especially when you’re already down a man.

Down 4-2
Barber theory tonight.....only playing half the game.

Down 5-2 now
Might as well but Barber in goal and see what he does. He's got alot of opinions on this team, I'm sure he can fix them.

Just ugly hockey. Can't get sorted out defensively. Soft goals given up. Rinse and repeat all season.

The fact they reviewed the play that resulted in the injured Northern player, but not the hit that knocked Scardina out speaks volumes about the integrity of the stripes on the ice.

5-2 them after 2. Not a good period. Defense in front of Stoever is bad, but he’s got to make a difficult save once in a while. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Evola in the third period, but we’ll see.
Just want to see a strong third period effort propelling us into a better game tomorrow night. I hope the NMU kid that was stretchered off late in the middle frame is okay.

Can we cut the Barber slander? He’s one of the only players that showed up tonight, and he’s the captain for a reason. The quote wasn’t even that bad in full context. He admitted to the reality of being a young guy in your 20s going through life as a college athlete - kinda wish he didn’t, but can’t fault a guy for saying the quiet part out loud. We need to be better as a team - he served his “penalty” for the comment/effort last Friday night. Time to move on.

That was a challenging period of hockey to sit through.

I'm sitting by Mr. Conquest so that was pretty cool to see Adam score.

We had a chance but what seemed like an unforced turnover lead to the empty net. Not a great game all around. Props to northern fans for coming out and what felt like one of their fans out cheering our student section all game.
Hope nothing is too wrong with Vanderbeck and he recovers quick. Never want to see someone get stretched off.
