Well… even though we aren’t a part of it, the NCAA tournament begins today, with the CCHA being represented by both Minnesota State and Michigan Tech.

The schedule for the first 2 days is below:

Thu 3/24
#1 Minnesota State vs. #4 Harvard 12:00pm ESPNU
#2 Minnesota Duluth vs. #3 Michigan Tech 3:00pm ESPNU
#2 North Dakota vs. #3 Notre Dame 6:00pm ESPNU
#1 Denver vs. #4 UMass-Lowell 9:00pm ESPNU

Fri 3/25
#1 Western Michigan vs. #4 Northeastern 12:00pm ESPNU
#1 Michigan vs. #4 AIC 3:00pm ESPNU
#2 Minnesota vs. #3 UMass 6:00pm ESPNU
#2 Quinnipiac vs. #3 St. Cloud State 8:00pm ESPNNews

Any picks/predictions on what will happen here? I think Mankato might have a real shot to win the whole thing, but with their tournament history prior to last year, they could lose today, too.

Looking forward to watching the games and gaining a better understanding of where we need to go to get back to the dance for the first time since 2019.

Great to see all the games are on TV. No more ESPN+. That's a big win for college hockey, and I assume because ESPN has the NHL rights.

My frozen Four is Michigan, NoDak, Denver, Western Michigan with a Michigan/WMU final.

My final four: Michigan, Duluth, NoDak, Gophers with Duluth/Gophers in the final and Duluth as champs. God I hope I'm wrong.

My basic cable package doesn't get The U so I added it for two days. I think it'll cost a buck or two less than signing up for the Plus for a month.

Minnesota State hangs on to win 4-3. They advance to Saturday's Albany Regional Final, where they will see either Notre Dame or North Dakota.

They were up 3-0, then it was cut to 3-2, then they went up 4-2 and they gave up a 6x4 goal with 3 to play to make it 4-3, but they hung on to win their 16th straight game. To put that into perspective... we won 15 all year this year.

So... the CCHA is the only team with an NCAA tournament game win so far this year.

Mankato took care of Havhahd pretty handily. Mankato was in command the first two periods. All world goalie Dryden McKay gave up a fluke which let Havhahd back in. Mankato missed on a penalty shot. It was closer in the third but the outcome wasn’t in doubt.

Halonen got 5 and the gate 3 min in.

After a turnover that will be talked about in Houghton for a generation, Duluth goes up 2-0 in the third.

Tech loses 3-0.

In other words, we scored as many goals in the NCAA tournament as they did.

Notre Dame and North Dakota heading to OT tied at 1.

Irish seemed like they scored with 0.4 seconds on the clock, but the goal is waved off after a 12+ minute review.

To OT we go, in the Albany regional semifinal…

There's no reason that review should have taken that long. Wonder if they'll review it again when the teams come back out and say it's good?

Notre Dame with the OT winner, 2-1. They’ll play Minnesota State on Saturday.

Congrats to Connor Ford on an amazing college hockey career that has now come to an end. A heck of a Falcon - glad he got to go to the NCAA tournament again before his career was done.

…who scored a highlight reel goal to put Denver up a goal with 3 min left. It was his 21st of the season.

Wright got the game winner for Denver, who moves on to play Duluth in Saturday’s Loveland Regional final.

Happy to see the former Falcon succeed.

Rematch of the Nacho tournament final.

Gotta say I like the Mavs chances of getting back to the Frozen Four, they have the talent to beat Notre Dame.
