Russ Sinkewich, from Westlake, has received a scholarship to play at BG, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Currently playing for the Lincoln (Neb) Stars of the USHL, Sinkewich is 6'3", 205 and also received offers from Ohio State and Miami University.
Sinkewich was a member of the 2003 Lakewood St Ed's State title team.

Man, it says something when a recruit looks at the facilities at tOSU (largest hockey arena in the country) and Miami (brand new, gorgeous ice arena in the works) and picks BG. Way to go Pooch!

Good point, BG Drew. But neither of those schools begin to compare to BG in terms of tradition. And BG is definitely getting back to the level it should be at!

Wow! I was born in Rocky River which borders Westlake. Kind of cool!
I'm thrilled that this kid will be coming here, but I must admit my deep-seeded hatred of St. Eds/ St. Ignatius. For some reason everyone I knew that went to those schools turned into a major d-bag. I've always just assumed it was part of a freshman orientation course!
In all seriousness, Pooch is amazing. I only wish more people would realize how lucky we are to have him coaching for us.

I'm glad to see that we got some size on the front line for next year. Does any one know what kinda numbers this kid is putting up in Lincoln?

I think that makes two kids from the Cleveland area signed up for next year. The other is Jacob Cebis (I believe) who plays for the Cleveland Barons and went to Parma HS (same school Holzinger went to).
Cool........

I'm from Parma, OH and graduated from Parma High School in 2001.
Brian Holzinger is from Parma, OH, but graduated from Padua High School, which is located in Parma.

Cepis won't be here until 2006, along with one other. That, in itself, is cool! I don't remember BG, in recent times, recruiting so far ahead of time!

Parma, St. ED's... being from bghs i do not like this topic too much

!!! They always seem to beat us in the semis

!! I guess it's always good to hear about kids from around the area... Brandon will just have to work harder to represent bghs more!!

I dated a girl @BGSU from Parma that went to Padua. Perogies, white socks and flamingos.
Hey, is Fast Eddie's still down there on Pearl Rd? I loved that place when Mrs. Freak and I lived in Old Brooklyn off Broadview Rd.

You lived in Old Brooklyn, Freak? I've delivered beer there! One of my best friends is the grandson of Knall Beverage, and I have worked there on occasion. Thats pretty inane, but I found it to be kind of cool
Oh, and you've never been to Parma unless you've actually seen a flamingo wearing white socks pulled up to it's knees eating a perogie!

I meant to say the grandson of the OWNER of Knall Beverage...
Stupidity is painful.

The Lincoln Star's website lists him as a DEFENSEMAN.
14 games played, 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points, 12 penalty minutes

Freak, as far as I know, Fast Eddies is still on Pearl Rd. I've only been there once and it was about 5-6 years ago. From what I remember, that place was pretty good!!!
