Exhibition vs. Windsor (12/30)
BG hosts Windsor in an exhibition on Saturday, 12/30 at 6pm. Tickets are cheap if you’re looking for something fun to do.
Should be interesting to see if we get any banged up guys back on the ice. I would imagine everyone that is healthy will play. Good little tuneup before the 2nd half.

I came in halfway through the 2nd. Ouch.
Sounds like Stoever is back. Who else? Norris?

Rats. Eigner was talking like both Norris and Bevilacqua would be back after the break.

Did Eigner tell the boys to play light defense to give Stoever plenty if action? Moore has faced only 2 shots in about 20min of play.

Re: Exhibition vs. Windsor (12/30)
Do you know the purpose of this game? Stoever played 30 minutes, Moore played 20, Eigner 10. Moore started the 2nd on the little ice, warming up before coming in at the media timeout. Eigner did the same for the third. All planned before the game even started.
Heavy rotation on the lines, as well as players within those lines. Not things that would normally happen in games. It was all about ice time against players that aren't teammates. Knock the rust off before OSU, in a game that doesn't count for anything. Also giving players time in situations they normally wouldn't get. 11, 23, 7, 18 all on the powerplay together is not a situation you're going to see next weekend. This game was a glorified practice, nothing more.

I get it. I know everyone plays. I know it’s a scrimmage. But man… we used to win these. We used to win 20+ games a year. We used to win playoff series and finish in the top half of the standings.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 1:46 amDo you know the purpose of this game? The magic just isn’t there anymore. Program has lost its juice. I go into games hoping we don’t get killed now, rather than expecting to win. The standard isn’t being met, and it hasn’t been in 3 at least consecutive seasons.
I continue to love and respect Ty Eigner, as a man and an alumnus. But this is just clearly not what this program is supposed to be. The CCHA is terrible and we can’t win in that league. I don’t think we should accept that.
I mean… do you expect anything other than getting swept by OSU next weekend? There was a time not that long ago when we could expect to compete and win against that opponent, but that’s far from the case now.

I've seen this game coached to win, and won 7,8,9-1. The team then shows up the next three weeks EXPECTING to show up and win, and losing. Tonight's game was coached with a plan from hours before. They have the rust knocked off, and film for every player to reference. If you need to, add in the gap between Canadian and US college hockey lessening over the past 10 years, and you have tonight's result.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 1:56 amI get it. Re: Exhibition vs. Windsor (12/30)
If we go into the next 3 weeks in win 5 or 6 games, then this is great and nobody will care about an exhibition. But I have my doubts. The culture of winning isn’t really there anymore - hence splits with Robert Morris and Mercyhurst and being swept by Augustana, and a 7-13 overall record and heading towards a 3rd consecutive losing season.

Re: Exhibition vs. Windsor (12/30)
Be careful being critical of this coach and program. It’s a very very sensitive subject. Even when the plan is getting rocked in exhibition games by Windsor for a chance to get the coaches kid some reps in net.
BGSU hasn’t played a season in a conference this terrible in decades, and home ice is not even guaranteed. Take it easy the standards are back to the early 2000s.
