Confirmed via X by The Blade.
All the best but the right decision was made.
Critical hire coming up for DVDM.
Who do we want to see?

I’d call Dan Bylsma, and when he inevitably says no, I cast a wide net. Doesn’t need to be anyone with any kind of connection to the program, just someone that will win.
Adam Krugh at Adrian is a name I’m curious about, personally. And I think Wayne Wilson is always an option out there that will get consideration.
What I absolutely do not want is a true internal hire. No offense to Curtis Carr or Stavros Paskaris, but the program needs some juice and some refreshing.

Bylsma is coaching in the AHL. No way that happens.
I don't want any alumnus. Might piss off some of the bigger donors, but the program needs a total reset with eyes from someone outside the BGSU hockey circle.

Steve Miller, a top assistant at Minnesota and a former Ohio State assistant. He’s another name I’m curious about.

Going the USNTDP would be amazing. Getting someone from that coaching tree.
Herter would probably cost too much to pry from WMU.
Maybe one of Nightingale's assistants at MSU?
Then there's the USHL route...

Wilson is too old.
The only alum that should be considered is Dennis Williams. His record speaks for itself, and was a major misstep to pass him over when Berge was hired.
I'm not thinking college assistant. Go get a head coach from the USHL, or NAHL. Someone young enough to connect and has experience moving players up too the next level.

Wilson leveraged Berge's departure into a better deal at RIT. I have to assume he's off the table.
Peter Mannino? He's helped resurrect Colorado College.

Williams would be a coup. 2023 WJC gold medal. He had some allegations levied back in August of misconduct of some locker room stuff at Everett, ultimately cleared. He has the resume. Just not sure if he would want to leave the WHL for a bottom feeder NCAA program.

Spend the money...make a high profile hire and give them a budget that allows to compete.

I don't know if the relationship with the university has been repaired yet. He was one of Buddy's players during some rather difficult times, but has won everywhere he has coached. Current roster and transfer portal, I'm thinking he'd have pretty much immediate success.
That said, I can definitely see the focus being on bringing in a non-alum for a fresh look at everything.

What I had actually heard about Wayne in 2019 was that he wanted the job but Bob Moosbrugger told people privately that he thought Wayne was “too boring” to hire for the job.

Dennis Williams would be an outstanding candidate whether he went to BG or not. The fact that he has a history here only makes it possible for us to get him. Not sure he’d consider us otherwise.
I feel like the job is pretty attractive, but you’re gonna have to convince someone to come in here and rebuild the program a bit. It’s not like 2019 where whoever the hire was would have the ability to win right away, with an NCAA tournament roster and culture already installed.

WHAT? Too boring? What sort of criteria is that? Cue Guest44 with one of those same old, same old rants of his. Actually, don't bother, we all know them by heart and half of us have him on block anyways.
