Dennis Williams Part II

Post by mbenecke »

Per Mike McMahon, Dennis Williams will be the next head hockey coach at BGSU.

Cannot believe we pulled this off.

Glad the university was able to repair the relationship. It's a solid hire.

Thoughts on assistants? Are Curtis and Stavros staying, one or the other, or is it a clean sweep?

With his reach, I can't even hazard a guess. I know the Carrs would like to stay here. Curtis was just elected to the board of the BGYHA.

The financials are going to be interesting. Williams should be hired in at a much higher salary than Eigner was. Hopefully they are able to increase the assistant fund as well.

In an article from The Rink Live there’s a photo of Eigner with a caption that says there are 8 BG players in the portal. If so, that happened over the past couple of hours.

GPL was the first place I checked after reading the article, but they may not have made the updates yet (if there are any).

If there are, so be it. Bringing in some new faces with the new staff may not be a bad thing.

Their own tracker currently says otherwise, and they have players added today (3/26).

If it's true, I'm blaming "mbenecke" for jinxing it in the other thread.

Interesting move. You don’t see many CHL coaches going to D1. Which I guess begs two questions.

1) Apparently the fences between BG and Williams have mended over the years.

2) Lends credence to the belief CHL players will be allowed into the NCAA TP very soon.

Why is my name in quotes, man? Lol

Also, be fair to me (always looking out for #1 over here), I said yet! Definitely acknowledging the possibility that it could happen at any time. I understand the portal game. Be nice to me, pdt.

I mean, Talons last year kept saying how quiet the offseason was and we see how that turned out. It's all in fun.

Of course it’s in fun, I’m just ribbing ya. Haha

Should be an interesting next few days. I’d anticipate the official announcement from BG shortly, likely today.
