vs. Simon Fraser (10/13)

Post by mbenecke »

On Sunday, October 13, our Falcons (2-0-0) will take on Simon Fraser in another exhibition contest. SFU has played two NCAA D1 teams in exhibitions so far this month, and they will play Robert Morris on Friday and Lake Superior State on Saturday before coming to town for our contest on Sunday. The exhibition will begin at 5:07pm, and it will be available to stream on Midco.

Go Falcons! Get better.

Such a weird school. They actually have two teams. One plays in the BiCHL, and the one coming here that plays a couple USports games, an ACHA series, and the rest are NCAA D1 games. Interestingly, their games against RMU and LSSU are in Plymouth, MI, at the USA Hockey Arena. That's the home arena for the NTDP.

Their 3 games in 3 days is a bit rough, but there's really no travel involved. If BG is anywhere close to where they should be, this one is over before the end of 2. If Simon is still hanging in there and keeping up, their strength and conditioning coach should have a job offer before the final horn.

For those unaware, Simon Fraser is the only Canadian school to be a member of the NCAA. They are a D2 school in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, which also hosts all the non-hockey sports of the two Alaska schools

BG jumping all over them early. It’s 3-0 Falcons halfway through the 1st period. Waters, Krieger, and Zlnka with goals to this point.

BG up 4-1 after 2 periods. Shots are 35-9 Falcons. Dominant performance.

Lackluster 2nd. Play was really one sided, but not a lot happening. Getting out of this game without injuries is a win right now. Simon Fraser likes swinging the stick.

I was in Lawson for the Ferris/Western game. If we play like we did in the first, we can hang with Western. Like the second? Warm up the bus.

The way the game ended, it'll probably be another 10 years before we see Fraser..... just like Windsor.
