As they say in hockey, let's do that hockey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ij4a6x_mPs

The boys are back! Year 2 of the Willy Era has arrived, and with it comes some increased expectations for the year. It all starts this weekend.

On Saturday, October 4, our Falcons will open the year at 6:07pm EST with an exhibition against Robert Morris. I'd expect to see lots of guys dressed and rotating in for this one, as a dress rehearsal before the real opener the following week.

It'll be at home, tickets are cheap ($5 for general admission!), and it'll be a fun night of hockey. If you're looking for something to fill the BG football off week void, why not head down to the Slate? If you can't make it, the game will be available to stream through Midco.

Let's put the whole CCHA on notice with a quality performance this weekend, eh fellas?

Thank god we don't play OU.

The hockey gods did us a favor when they folded their program.

Barry Schutte doesn't want this smoke.

Be careful now, OU was ranked #1 last year for a period of time in Division 1 of the ACHA. I'm sure they could roll into Slater, or hell even Lawson and lay the smack down.

1-0 them, late in the first. Penalty palooza so far. Has not been a great performance by any means.

The good news is this one doesn’t count. We’re all over the place. The better news is almost all of this is fixable.

Maybe 1 of those penalties is called during league play. Maybe. Individually, the players look solid. As a team, they're obviously still getting to know each other. But, with almost the entire period being spent on special teams, not exactly sure what to expect. Seems like everybody is playing in all situations right now. Not a bad thing, and probably part of the game plan, but really hard to get any kind of rhythm with linemates.

In game shot count seems low. Not sure RMU has had a clean shot on goal at all. Most have been tipped or redirected, or flat out missed the net.

Definitely feels like this team won’t be close to a finished product to start the year, but I’m confident they will improve as the year progresses.

However… getting beat 4-1 by RMU halfway through the 2nd on home ice is not the kind of start we were hoping for.

That period was rough. Steinman wants at least one of those back.

Well? Uh…hmmm. Some good, some bad. We got through the NZ in good shape and carried into the o-zone rather than dump and chase. Long way to go.

League seems to be cracking down on hitting from behind, even when they are not hit from behind.

Lot of stuff to fix, luckily we have a handful of games before league play to figure it out.

We all know 90% of those penalties will not be called during the regular season. There's no reason to call a game like that.

Good to get things on film a week before the season starts, work on things.

I didn't see Ty Higgins out there or on the line up sheet, hopefully just a little banged up from practice or something.
