Following the electric win over Ohio State, our Falcons (9-5-4) next head out on the road for 2 games at Ferris State (4-18-0). Friday night's game will begin at 7:07pm, while Saturday night's contest will start at 6:07pm. Both games will be available to stream on Midco.
We swept this team 9-5, 5-2 in our building back in November, but it feels like we sometimes have trouble going up to their barn and coming back with a full 6 points, so this series requires our full attention. We have a bit of a loaded league schedule to close the year, so it's imperative that we stack points where we can in the race for home ice.
Despite their relatively weak offense (stats below) they do have 2 guys in Gavin Best and Josh Zary with more goals than anybody on our team, so we'll need to keep an eye on those guys specifically. Their Trevor Taulien also leads the CCHA in both penalties and penalty minutes, so we can't let him bait us into taking cheap stuff.
Team Stats Comparison (CCHA rank):
Goals Per Game: BG - 3.33 (2nd), Ferris - 2.41 (8th)
Goals Allowed Per Game: BG - 2.89 (5th), Ferris - 4.05 (9th)
Shots on Goal Per Game: BG - 31.22 (2nd), Ferris - 25.09 (9th)
Powerplay: BG - .215 (3rd), Ferris - .138 (8th)
Penalty Kill: BG - .838 (3rd), Ferris - .753 (8th)
Faceoffs: BG - .537 (1st), Ferris - .483 (7th)
Go Falcons!

Anything other then a sweep would be considered a disappointment.
Beat who you are supposed to beat. This is one of those weekends. Drop or tie a game. New faces but same results, we'll be fighting for 3rd to 5th in a weak conference. Use this momentum and get two more this weekend and start climbing the ladder.

It's surprising to me that Ferris is as bad as they've been this year. I was expecting Brett Riley to give these guys a spark but they're not much better than Northern. Losing any points to Ferris would be another gut punch like Northern. But it's just so hard to sweep 4 games from someone in this league that you can throw the stats out the door. The good news is we appear to be healthy again (we weren't for Northern) and we have added depth with Higgins now in the lineup.

Agreed. Into the second half of the season now, no more excuses. Ferris was spanked 8-2 this past Saturday by the Tommies so expect them to be a sour bunch.

It was 8-4. Wild game. Ferris led 2-0 halfway through the first. They trailed 4-2 at first intermission, 8-2 after 2. They managed to get 2 back in the third. Very streaky team as we saw here. They obviously have some talent there, it's just a matter of when they put it together.

If we didn't play around with Northern and find out, and actually played to our abilities we'd be 12th currently. You get extra hammered if you lose at home against terrible teams.
Absolutely need to sweep. Sweep we'll be sitting around 18. Starts tonight.
After the Northern weekend to get back to 12th we're going to need to sweep the next three weekends.

You're not missing anything with the video feed, other than a battle with motion sickness. I guess, if they zoom out, you'd see the empty stands.

I was just coming here to bitch about this. Feels like watching a game through a magnifying glass.
And I’m sure it’s just some 19 year old doing his best. But yeesh. Zoom out, buddy! Production truck needs to help out. Lol

And BG adds another from Grant on the powerplay. Falcons up 2-1 late 2nd period.

CCHA officials are obsessed with calling penalties like 10 seconds into a powerplay to “even things out” and it drives me nuts.

Whynott adds an empty netter to make it 3-1, and that’s the final score.
Falcons win, 3-1! That’s 3 points on the road. Sweep em tomorrow night.
