@ Bemidji State (1/23-24)

Post by mbenecke »

Following the split with Lake Superior State, our Falcons (12–64) will be at home once again this upcoming weekend, hosting the Bemidji State Beavers (9-12-3) in league play. Friday night’s game at 8:07pm EST, Saturday night at 7:07pm EST. Both games available to stream, as always, on Midco.

We struggled with this team the last time around, suffering a 4-4 tie with a shootout loss, and a 3-2 OT loss back in October in our barn. They haven’t won since November 22nd against WMU (9 games without a win, including 4 losses in a row) so their form isn’t great, but that can be a trap fi we don’t have the right mindset. It’s a good program and we’re on the road, so we’ll have to be sharp to escape with 2 wins.

Team Stats Comparison (CCHA rank):
Goals Per Game: BG - 3.23 (2nd), BSU - 3.04 (4th)
Goals Allowed Per Game: BG - 2.55 (4th), BSU - 3.00 (6th)
Shots on Goal Per Game: BG - 32.23 (1st), BSU - 29.04 (4th)
Powerplay: BG - .214 (3rd), BSU - .175 (6th)
Penalty Kill: BG - .848 (3rd), BSU - .766 (6th)
Faceoffs: BG - .546 (1st), BSU - .496 (4th)

BG is the most penalized team in the league, and despite their clutch and grab style of play, Bemidji is among the least penalized. It’s super important that we play disciplined hockey and don’t continually give them chances to beat us with a man down.

Go Falcons!
