Saturday night game BG/MSU

Post by FindlayFalcon »

End of the lst. MSU 2- BG 1. Pilkington got the first goal (power play goal) with assists to Unger and Minnebarriet. MSU then scored a PP goal. Then with just a minute or so in the period we were down 2 men so MSU scored a 5 on 3 goal. Of course they did it with a man in the crease (clearly shown on TV). Wilkins screws us again!!!

Following it on gametracker, it looked like we were carrying the game for most of the first, then the penalties. Ugh.

BG up 3-2 with 6 minutes left in the second period. MSU about to go on ANOTHER 5 on 3 power play though.

Put the damn whistle away!

Are we really playing that bad/sloppy (maybe overaggressive?) that we've committed 9 penalties to three!?!?

Another PP goal for the eggsuckers! (that one's for you, Fanatic! )

BG is taking WAAAYYY too many penalties. 10 to their 3. Score is 3-3. All six goals are PP goals. We have scored on all 3 of their penalties. Just think where we would be if they were getting more penalties---or we were getting less!!! Sitko has had at least 3 himself. Problem is we take a penalty then get too aggressive in penalty kill and take another penalty. We have been down 5 on 3 twice tonight!! Siggy is standing on his ear and making fantastic saves.

That's what Gametracker has is 6 PIM for Sitko, I counted 9 penalties (or at least 18 PIM) total for us. Thank God for Jordan!!!! If not for performances like this one (it sounds like) over the past four years, this team might still be holding the rest of the conference!

To the doubters.... WHY isn't he a legitimate Hobey candidate again??? :?

I really doubt that we are playing that much worse than MSU. Just look at last night. Same linesmen, just a different ref. Wilkins is the ref tonight. He has never really been very good at all. The first 5 on 3 that MSU had was a result of Hodgson taking down Mckenzie (#25 for those that were at Friday's game) after the whistle. Mckenzie is majoring in acting if I'm not mistaken.

and no penalties at all in the third until Foster takes a major with 3 minutes left... its going to be an uphill climb to get that equalizer now... :(

From the sounds of it, Foster should have had a penalty but not necessarily a 5 minute. Pooch was really angry about that one. Amazing that the ref can call 10 penalties in the 2nd period and only 1 in the 3rd!! Hmmmm. Anyway, it is now 5-3. Nesdil kicked in MSU's 5th goal. 6-3 now. Empty netter. Oh well.

OK, guys, let's take it to the Weasels next weekend.

Watched the game on Fox in a sports bar at the hotel in Atlanta. Nesdill didn't kick it in, it looked like it deflected off of his skate. And YES, Pooch was VERY ANGRY about the 5 minute call!! The call on Dobek was total crap. Vicari put his foot out and tripped Dobek, then took this big dive!! It was pretty clear on the 3 or 4 replays they showed!!!! GRRRRRRRR!!

There was a lot of BG coverage on Fox, big segment on Jordan between second and third, but we couldn't hear a thing in the bar.

oh welll....I know most people expected a split...but......WILKINS SUCKS!!!!

SWEEEEEEEEEP THE WEASELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I'm watching the replay of the game here on fox sports ohio. Their 2nd goal was crap shouldn't have counted he was in the crease. And after everyone of our goals there is penalty called... right after... hmmmm. And there was the 6 men on the ice that wasn't called till the elbow call that made it 4-4. Then that call where we hit Vicari with that stick for the 5-3 was crap what an act job!!! Ohh did i mention it's only the 2nd? 10 2 min penalties is one period of down a man... ohh and then there's the 5 min major too. But as is life in the ccha where UM and MSU have total control. But hey who's got home ice!!??? They can't take that away from us!

Tonight was one of the few nights that remind me how good it is to come home. I have never had an usher tell me that I have to sit down at a sporting event until tonight. I took a group of 5 up to watch the game since we got tickets for $2. We were louder than most of the crowd. It was great when two of the MSU students come over with a cowbell to try and get the crowd pumped up and to get us to shut up. I think we really pissed them off when started chanting BG-SU and was every bit as loud at the entire section. If had the same size crowd in BG, we would blow the roof off the Ice Arena. I have honestly been to libaries that are louded than MSU's ice arena.

I honestly don't think we were playing that dirty or any worse than normal. It just seemed like every questionable call went agiasnt BG. Now I do agree with the boarding call at the end of the game. However, it was not a major penalty. It was a good hit, the MSU guy was just out of position.

Tonight was a very good, hard faught game. If we had gotten a couple of calls to BG's way I'm sure it would have been a different game. The icers having nothing really to be asshmed of tonight. I hope BG can mop the ice this coming weekend with U of M. It would be great to finish the up really strong for the playoff's. I just wish I could be there. I am taking a trip with one of my classes that leaves Thursday night. I'll be there in spirit. Kick some Wolverine ass!!!
