As dissapointed as I am that we aren't in it this year, my hatred for Michigoon and the Blackeyes is such that I must pay attention to this series. Heck, I may even go up on Friday to watch a game. With NMU currently up on WMU 3-0 in the second, I'm going to assume that NMU makes it. Here is the seeding as I see it:
1. Michigoon
2. Blackeyes
3. Northern Michigan
4. Nebraska-Omaha
5. Michigan State
6. Alaska-Fairbanks
This means that Thursdays games will be as follows (w/ UM and OSU getting byes):
Northern Michigan vs. Alaska-Fairbanks
Nebraska-Omaha vs. Michigan State
My call in those games:
Alaska-Fairbanks over Northern Michigan (I was just too impressed with them this past weekend).
Michigan State over Nebraska-Omaha
Which means that Friday we will see:
Michigan State vs. OSU (OSU winning)
Alaksa-Fairbanks vs. UM (UM winning)
Making the championship game:
OSU vs. UM (UM winning)
Those are my calls (as I understand the system). Let me know if I'm wrong or if you disagree!
Even though we're not in the Super 6 this year, I take comfort in the fact that we will soon be a mainstay in the tournament thanks to Pooch's leadership. College hockey is still college hockey, and this is a great time of year!
