this should help open things up for bg, miami, and probably ohio state. plus, meatchicken lost a ton of seniors from last year's team. if they were ever going to have a "down" year, this could be it.

I'm just not upset with this one like I was when Ryan Miller left early. I mean, I was happy in that BG would have an easier time with State, but Miller was fun to watch. I've never been that impressed with Montoya.

It's about time Montoya moves on. Isn't he like 36 or something?

I feel the same. I think that the team in front of him made him look a lot better than he was.

GO HOCKEY!!!

Montoya isn't that great of a goalie, and a goon. I still remember when he cheap shotted one of our guys, the ref sees it, and doesn't call a thing. Then again, seeing an uncontested goal when he misread the puck was a thing of beauty.

See ya, bye bye, you know the rest...

Had this posted as a new topic before I scrolled down.. here's the old copy/paste with my two cents:

Just read on www.ccha.com that Al Montoya decided to go pro. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it's good to have him gone as he would be going into his senior year with a lot of confidence. On the other hand in the four games I watched against Michigan this year he did NOT impress me in any of them. In the first series especially when he let up 3 goals in the first at home against us, and then the two extremely soft goals he let up the next night (karem off the boards, and unger stealing it from him)

I guess when push comes to shove I'm glad to see him go. The clinching factor? He was flat out ugly.

I am happy to see him go because, especially last year, he just turned into a goon. It was clear that the CCHA figured him out and that he wasn't putting in the work that he should have. He got to the point where when he would give up a goal or two he would just start hacking at players as they skated near the crease or simply just taking dives. There is no room in college hockey for people like that. The NHL can have him, but he won't be going very far.
