What is the word about KP's departure?

Not having access to the Sentinel or anything anymore I am curious to know what the media/coaches/players are saying about the loss of Coach Patrick to the Badgers? Is there any word on a replacement process? Believe me, I don't feel like this is the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination, but I am still curious. FF, help me! :D

I will say this, I am glad that we play Wisky in football this year. Now we can stick it to them for pulling a coach out from under us!

I half-expected at least a quote from Paluch or Krebs in the write-up on the official site, but it was pretty straight forward and factual. I was a little curious about him making a somewhat lateral move, but it sounds like he has a long history with the folks in the Wisky program.

And I hope the football team sticks it to 'em just to stick it to 'em, but maybe Omar can throw one more TD for the coach thievery!!!

The Sentinel only had a little blurb about KP leaving in the Briefs section. I talked with Kevin yesterday and he felt it was a move he needed to make in his quest to eventually become a head coach. He really hates leaving BG, knowing that we are right on the edge of the success they have been working so hard to build these past three years. He did not seek out the position, they came after him. It's a very bittersweet move for him, believe me.

I don't doubt that for a minute. Having met KP I know what a great guy he is. From the moment I heard this I didn't think for a second that this was a nefarious or selfish move on his part. The fact of the matter is that he is moving to a better hockey conference, and I have always thought he was a guy on the up and up. He was a big part of our rebuilding phase and we can never be grateful enough for the work he has done here. I wish him nothing but the absolute best - until we play Wisconsin in the Frozen Four, that is  .

I'm just curious to know where we go from here in terms of hiring a new coach. Again, I have no doubt that Paluch will find a GREAT coach to take KP's place, but I am still interested in the process.

Hey, how about we hire another BG Hockey alum...

I don't know WHO they have in mind, but they do have a few quality names that they will be checking into. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, but I wasn't told WHO they are interested in, just that they had a few good people in mind to pursue!!! I trust Paluch and Fogarty to find the right person to fill the vacancy. I am sure it will be someone who is the right "fit" for both the BG Hockey team and the BG community that supports the hockey team. Both pieces are VERY important to Paluch. That is why he brought in Fogarty and Patrick to begin with and that is why they recruit the kids they do!!!!

I also cannot thank KP enough for all he did for Falcon Hockey. Kevin is Class Act all the way!!!! GOOD LUCK, KP.....unless you are playing the Falcons, of course!! :D

Interest in the position has been high, more than expected, given the time of year. They have had several interviews and hope to have someone within a week or two at the latest. No information on who interviewed, though. The suspense is killing me!! Would love to see Dennis Williams get it. Have no idea if he even inteviewed, though I am sure he put his name in the hat!! My guess is that the coaches have two or three in mind that THEY were interested in and then pursued those guys. Hope we get some news soon!!

ON ICE PRACTICE STARTS ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!! WOOOO-HOOOO!!!

My not-so-psychic powers tell me the position will go to Jamie Dumont.

I have also heard that he was in the lead for the position. I think they also interviewed Jeff Wells.
