New goalie

Post by BGFan »

BG has picked up a new goalie for next year. Phil Greer from Alpena in the NAHL. I haven't done any research on him so I'm not sure if he's coming in as the number 3 goalie or what.

This kind of surprises me. It seems like we had a good 1-2 already, but I guess a little competition never hurt anyone.

Also, Little Siggy's schollie had to go somewhere.

The goalie is for next season, not this upcoming season. We'll probably recruit one more as two of our 3 goalies are seniors this year.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

FF,

Will both Seniors see time in the net this year? And who do you think should start?

The puck will be droppin pretty soon, no?

Horrell will probably see time no doubt. Frazee is a little stretch, but possible. If Spratt pans out to what he's been built up as Frazee probably will only see time as a relief in blowouts. I can see Horrell starting on a limited basis with Spratt taking the rest of them.

That depends on how quickly Spratt adapts to the college game. He seemed a little shell shocked during the summer scrimmage games I saw, but I also heard that he attended a camp after that and performed quite well.

The optimist in me hopes that his shell schock state was due to our renewed offensive prowess. :D Matsu and others looked very, very fast and very, very accurate.

If Spratt proves to be slow to adapt Horrell will get the nod early on (he seemed to be the better of the two in the shinny games, IMO), as soon as Spratt catches up, though, he'll be the one in net as he's the immediate future in net for the program.
