Is anyone planning on going to Columbus for the Saturday night game? It's only about an hour and a half drive for me so I'll probably head up and check it out. Just wondering who I might run into there.

@Ohio State is on Friday, not Saturday. You might be kind of lonely there that night.

Hmmm you're right. I didn't realize it was a Thursday-Friday series. Well it looks like I'll be there Friday night then in that case!

tOSU is ranked #2 now in the latest polls by USA Today, and #3 by the USCHO/CSTV polls. The odds look stacked, but if our boys can avoid taking too many costly penalties and continue to click offensively, then I see no reason we can't upset them this Thursday.
With the Matsumoto hat trick I can only smell big things for the Icers this season. Even though the preseason CCHA polls ranked them lower than expected, I think we have a team that can really make some waves and build off last year.
Go Falcs!

The key to victory is going to be goaltending and defense, mark my words.

If we can get that problem fixed we should be fine. Spratt received a trial by fire this past weekend. Hopefully he'll be able to rebound and see the puck better. No decision has been made yet on the goalie situation for this series. My guess is that they'll be rotated again.
It was interesting talking to Coach Paluch last night. He said that what they were hoping for with Spratt was an initial shot to the chest area to get him settled in to the game early. Unfortunately he got a nice shot the carromed off of his stick and into the net that rattled him. He was never able to relax and find a groove after that.
The coach wasn't down about the weekend at all and found many positives to take away from both games. He feels that the problems we had are very fixable and that we'll be fine this season.

To me it appeared that the boys just got gassed after clawing their way back to the tie. I think that lead to a lot of odd man rushes in itself, yes the goaltending was shakey but starting your first game against a powerhouse like BC may hinder the confidence.
I have full confidence that our icers can pull off an upset this weekend!.

I agree with BGDrew, goal tending and defense is key to Falcon success.
Jimmy Spratt played poorly last weekend and John Horrell was just average so they will have to step it up this weekend. The defensemen were badly beaten by the BC forwards who skated past the defense almost at will.
So what should be done?
After 2 games, only one player is even in terms of +/-, and that is Jon Erickson. Of the defensemen Don Morrison is -4, Nesdill -4, Kevin Schmidt -3, Jeremy Bronson -3, Jon Sitco -2, and Mike Hodgeson -2.
Of the 8 goals scored thus far, 7 have been on the powerplay. If our opponents take fewer penalties we had better be able to score goals.
The forwards while doing well on offense could assist with better forechecking in my opinion.
If the present lineup continues without a shakeup I’m sure the team will improve over time and it is still early in the season. It would however be nice to win, especially against Ohio State.
