Great article BGFan. I think I may have mentioned this before, but in my now 16 years in BG, I still have not been to a hockey game. :duh: :coo-coo: But given the prospects for our basketball team, maybe I will have to switch winter sports and take in a hockey game or two this season. Sounds like they are turning things around! :D

Come to a game....you won't regret it.

Besides, they don't conflict with basketball. They're generally Friday and Saturday nights (unless they're home and home) at 7:00 pm.

Think of it as a cross between basket and football. The speed of basketball, and the head knocking blows of football.

A hard combination to beat!

agreed. You will also realize the history of the team. Yes there are the "old tymers" at all the sports, having supported them for years. But Hockey is above the rest. When you see everyone bust out a news paper when they anounce the visiting team starters.....when you read the banners on the wall.....and when you feel the atmosphere of the ice arena, nothin compares. Hockey is the best spectator sport live, hands down. Watching hockey on TV doesnt do it justice. A live game is so much better, and when its the falcons to boot, as Martha would say, "it's a good thing".

Nothing would make me happier than seeing BGSU scroll across the ESPN bottom line anouncing our Frozen Four birth. The football team could go undefeated and make at-large bowls for 10 straight years, and it wouldnt compare to another Hockey title.

BGFan/FF-- excellent article. If that doesnt get people interested, nothing will. I will add though, that of those olympians of ours, 2 were part of the 1980 Miracle team.....though you wouldnt know it watching the movie!!   :axe:

My mom and dad went and saw it in the theater, they were so mad when they got back. "it was good, but they didnt even mention BGSU" (my mom being an allum, and my dad a townie, and hockey coach back in the day) It was the first time i really saw them outwardly show that "why does BG get hosed all the time" feeling, since they always give me crap for putting more into cheering for BG that my studies  it was really funny.

So Jealous

I don't see the falcons in person till the 30th...between anniversary and High School football, it really messes up the start of the BG Hockey season for me...grrrr

Can't wait to see if Unger has learned to skate and how all the freshmen will help the team!

Wow....that gave me goosebumps reading that! RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!! You too, FF! You guys rule the hockey roost! All those great names from the past and the great tradition that is BG Hockey.

The program WILL be back on the elite level soon. I will make at least 4 or 5 games this year...maybe more if Mrs. Freak doesn't mind.

I'll check out the sked and see what dates to sell 50/50 tix as well.

If you've never been to a hockey game, or its been a long time since you've been to one, you NEED to get down there and get behind this program. Hockey actually has a realistic chance of winning the National Title (Unlike football thanks to the Bulls*it Conspiracy Series!) :x
See 1984... :supz: :partyman:

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
