A tough one tonight, Clarkson 6-4.

After a great 1st period the Falcons could not keep it together. Brandon Svendsen took a bad knock trying to save an open net goal. He has been taken out on a stretcher so we hope he is OK.

He did save the goal, which was pretty sweet! But yeah, he was lying out on the ice for maybe five minutes before they took him off. Not good. :( Hope it's not too serious.

Ok here goes a long post, so bear with me.

First of all we had many opportunities to win this game tonight, so I really don't want to hear any moaning and complaining about the officiating costing us the game. Yeah the refs were horrible, but we should have won. It benefited us on our second goal anyways. Foster and Svendsen's breakaway misses and the two crossbars we hit really cost us. We also took far too many penalties in the second and third periods and it cost us.

I am really bummed that Svendsen is hurt. It seems like the kids who try their hardest and give 100% are always the one who get hurt. Brandon played a hell of a game against State last weekend and tonight as well. My prayers definitely go up for and hope that it is nothing serious.

Following on that topic the student section needs scolded. How stupid and ignorant can you be? Our kid, or even one of their guys could have been hurt and it wouldn't matter, is out cold on the ice not moving, and all we can do is start yelling at their fans and getting on the ref. My God, show some f**king respect (pardon my language but that's exactly how I feel right now) It is pathetic that it took 5 minutes for everying to finally shut their traps and be respectful. If you don't have enough sense do to that, then please do not come to any more games. I don't care if one of their fans was making fun of Svendsen, who cares?

Next the officiating. Worst worst worst. Murphy didn't have a clue what he was calling out there, the linesman calling two illegal faceoffs in our zone (one leading to a goal) were ridiculous. What really set me off was when we got the too many men call late in the 3rd. Did he really not see our goalie was pulled? Un-freaking-believable. Murphy had a quick trigger for hooking and holding early on, but where did that go in the third period. Our guys were getting hauled down left and right. I hope those clowns are not back tomorrow night.

Finally I'm starting to have a little more confidence in Jimmy. I know the goals he let in were kind of soft, but he's getting in position better and making some quality saves. As he continues to improve we will continue to improve as a team.

Also 'bout that, sorry if the band offended anyone by playing when he was down, for a little bit. We couldn't see a thing and didn't realize a player was hurt at first.

I think that after watching the first half of the season many of the fans believe that this team is underachieveing. Not at all, last year we had a hot goaile and overachieved. This is not as good of a team as many think. Sure we should have some more wins but I didnt really think this was going to be a great year. Hopefully in the second half the defense can tighten up a bit. The upperclassman really need to step up becuase right now the younger gus are running the show. Any thoughts?

unfortunately, we had SEVEN guys on the ice at the time the too many men penalty was called. That's why it was called.

I hope that Svendsen is OK. It was definitely rough seeing him lying prone on the ice like that. Scary, scary hit after what was a FANTASTIC individual effort by him. Not that the effort is surprising...he's always moving his feet and as someone already said gives 110% plus.

I'm not even going to comment on the Clarkson fan...so much happened with him tonight, including getting someone getting the police involved. I was a section away, so I am not sure exactly what happened, but no one was happy about it.

Let's get a W tomorrow!

Yeah that's understandable, Brandon was down along the boards probably where the director wasn't able to see. No worries there, we're always happy to have the band there. Sounded great tonight btw.

Yeah.. you're partially right and partially wrong. You're right in saying that the young guys are leading this team, skillwise anyways. Don Morrison is clearly the "leader on the ice" if that makes sense. But Foster, Matsumoto, Svendson seem to be the guys with the most success lately.

However I wouldn't say last year's team overachieved at all. We happened to have a great goalie behind a solid team and we won some games. There is a ton of talent on this team, but they just aren't playing as a unit yet. It's beginning to get better and as this cohesiveness continues to get stronger this team will get the results they ought to.

The worst part about the too many men call was all 7 guys were inside the Clarkson zone. It took me a minute before I realized we had 7 out there.

According to the article on bgsufalcons.com, Svendson was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. I didn't see exactly how he hit, but it didn't look good from my veiwpoint (next to the zamboni doors). I truly hope he is alright because his work ethic during games is like no other. He really gives 100% every shift.

I missed most of the game but did catch the last half of the third. Matsumoto's goal was absolutely awesome. The move he made to get into the zone, then between the blueline and the net was unbelievable. How he was able to keep control of the puck the entire time is beyond me. Hopefully, he can continue to play like that every game.

I was in the student section last night, and I would say that everybody was just fed up with how the referees virtually ripped the game away from us in the 2nd period last night. When Svendsen went down, I guess some people just basically used the time to let loose their frustrations (I heard somebody utter "Murphy take your shirt back to foot locker" at one point). Yeah it was disrespectful to do that while our guy was down, but I really dont think anybody cared at that point given the circumstances. There were a bunch of rowdy fans near the BG bench that I could have sworn were going to leap over the glass and go after Murphy.

I'll gotta give props cuz the foot locker comment was really funny. I'll admit I was fed up last night too, I just couldn't take it when our guy is down and not moving and all we cared to do was yell at Murphy when we know it doesn't do any good anyways. Sorry for gettin on everyone's case, but please see where my frusteration was coming from

Crazy game

Wow Murphy was pathetic. He had no control of that game from the drop of the puck. How did they call diving on Foster when after the play he is in the box grabbing his shoulder, rocking back and forth in pain with an ice pack on it? Oh, what was he just faking that??? How was that a dive murphy? And on the play Svendson got hurt, didn't the clarkson guy just tackle him and take him down, how is that not holding or interfernce??? So freaking frustrating! Just terrible. Anyways, how dirty was Clarkson?! They were hitting after the whitsle, checking guys from behind, taking out our goalie.(i dont think the play were brandon got hurt was dirty, but there were alot of other plays). Just classless hockey by them. I have no respect for that program anymore. And as for the student section, we were really into the game and real emotional. But the dudes that were yelling stuff while Svendson was down were yelled at by other students to shut up, we got a guy down. There was only about 5 or 6 guys yelling so remember, in any student section you will always have a couple jackasses. The majority of the students were fine.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with that play. Svendson leaned into the Clarkson guy and he leaned back. Svendson was the first one to dive for the puck and paid the price. Had the Clarkson guy dove first, he would have taken the brunt of the collision.

Svendsen's play shows a lot character to be the first guy back for BG, diving to clear the puck from going in the EN. I really like his work ethic, he's consistently strong on both ends of the ice, playing confident and making good decisions.
