BGSU Take out #14 in Nation 6-4.

Post by FalconBlue »

In a good game tonight BGSU get’s a win over Nationally 14TH ranked St. Lawrence. The difference tonight was Horrell’s steady play in net. Midway through the 3rd Horrell makes a save without his stick and saved 35 of 39 shots. Trevelyan was dangerous throughout the game for St. Lawrence with a "hat trick". Morrison had another nice goal, the second of the weekend. Whitmore scores his second in the final PP of the night.
If you're ridin' ahead of the herd, take a look back now and then to make sure it's still there.

Wow, nice win but what is it with the inconsistency? :? This team makes you feel crappy one day then great the next then crappy again. Man I hope we can get it together.

I don't think the inconsistency seems to be as much night to night as it's within the game itself. From what Pooch has been saying, along with what I've read from regulars at the games around here, the effort has been there and then some most nights, but some days they either aren't getting the breaks, or the lapses they do have open the floodgates (see last night).

Not saying this team should have won EVERY game they've been in this year, but they could easily have three or four more wins on the good side of the standings, it seems.

If you weren't there you missed some absolutely sick moments of hockey. A few breakaway goals come to mind along with Horrell stopping shots without his stick.

Wow, how bout Matsumoto's goal in the second? That was beautiful! And let's give it up for Brandon Svendson, kid goes off on a stretcher friday night and comes right back the next night, plays, and scores a goal!!! Talk about a warrior! Great play by Horrell tonight and Murphy wasn't all that terrible. Great Win Boys! It's always so much fun at the Ice Arena when BG wins!

Couple things...was Mats offside on the goal? Poor Svendsen...he works/plays soo hard/good, I just wish he'd score on a break-away!!! Tonights attempt was much better than lastnights though. Tells you something about his toughness and dedication to this team...taken off on a strecher lastnight, and starts tonight!

One thing I noticed about this weekends games, we were scoring goal-scorer's goals...the first 2 goals tonight were from almost impossible angles!

TG - Pooch has been saying the same thing all year, AND HE'S BEEN RIGHT. When we stay focused and play smart with the puck and in the defensive zone, we are a completely different team.

Falcon Boy....no comment.

FalconBlue, please stay off the rumors - especially when it deals with team chemistry and off-ice dealings. I doubt there was little possibility that he wasn't going to be there tonight...not to take ANYTHING away from his family commitments...

No go out east and WIN the UConn Classic!!!!

Go Falcons!

No, he took the pass at the blue line. His stick was on the blue line when he got the pass. Awesome move and awesome shot.

Great effort by the guys tonight with the exception of the first half of the third. Could've been the game right there. It was a great game to watch. End-to-end hockey all night long. St. Lawerence is a decent team, but they can't keep their balance for anything. Just the slighest little bump in first part of the game and a SLU player would go down with a BG player going to the box.

My only problem with that comment was the save without the stick. Before he lost his stick, the guy had him beat on a wide open net but missed. Had he not committed as soon he wouldn't have had to make the play later without a stick.

I love the win, but we still need to work a lot on our consistency. We need to put teams away, the last two nights we've been up by a couple points only to see that lead diminish. Luckily we bounced back tonight to regain the lead, but that's not a gamble I'd like to take every night.

There was a lot of jump from the players to start the game, doing the right things, making checks and moving the feet. We just can't let down and let teams back into it, it's all about putting them away.

Good Luck at UCONN. :D

GREAT win over a VERY good team!! (I thought that St Lawrence was better than Clarkson.) I am very proud of our team and how hard they worked their butts off tonight to get that win!! Fantastic game by Horrell, too!! Awesome breakaway goal by Whitmore to seal the deal!!!

OVERALL.....WAY TO GO, FALCONS!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Thanks for having my back, FlagCity... it seems like this team has to give 100% for 60 minutes to have a chance to win many of its games so far, and when that slips for any length of time, other teams have jumped on it.

A great game by Horrel made a huge difference, and there's a lot to be said for the guy goin out and attacking the one St. Lawrence offender on that breakaway. Not many teams have goalies who will go out and deliver a check!

This is a team on the brink. should figure out how to maintain that championship level of focus each game, the way championship level teams do. I can see no reason why our team and incoming players could not win another NCAA Championship. the talent is there, the focus as mentioned comes and goes. i am confiedent these kids will get it figured out.

Wow. Thank the Lord that Svendson was back in there tonight. I spoke with a friend after last night's game, and the way it sounded, Brandon's career was over. At that point, my concern is not with the program, but for the person. For Brandon to have been there for the opening faceoff tonight - wow - that is what hockey is ALL ABOUT!

I am so proud of my Falcons tonight I can't even describe it! To come back after a tough night, without your head coach and beat a BETTER team than you lost to last night....boy. I am ALWAYS proud to be a Falcon, but sometimes it is nice to be able to use something like this as evidence as to why!

GO FALCONS!!!! SEE YOU IN STORRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two things: Your friend should have mentioned that Svendsen was moving his legs a lot before the medics started to work on him. Seeing his legs move was very reassuring, as we stood and watched, wondering how he was out there!! Again, thank God he was ok!!! The kid's a warrior, no doubt!!!

Also, Paluch WAS on the bench tonight. Very tough weekend for him. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Paluch and Paradiso families.

OK, so I'm 3000 miles away - sue me!

No matter how it happened, I'm just happy we got a win under our belts going into the long holiday break. Is it more fun to imagine the team doing it without sticks? Absotoodilotilly. 8)
