My last post got me thinking about what several of us have tried to do over the years...keep the tradItions alive....sadly not very successfully.
Here's a thread to post the traditional chants and when they should be used. I will try and get them typed up and copied before the game to distribute at the game!! Anyone who wants to help me...PM me!!
TIME TO ROCK THE RINK....AGAIN!!!!
GO ICERS!!
SWEEEEEEEEP THE BUCKEYES!!!

(one person starts)"Hey ref, you're terrible,"
(crowd) "and UGLY"
(person) "And terrible,"
(crowd) "and ugly,"
(crowd) "AND TERRIBLY UGLY!"
-used after ref makes a bad call.
(section E) "HEY SECTION A, BG!"
(section A) "SU!"
(E) "BG!"
(A) "SU!"
"Hey, Mister Busdriver,
WARM UP THE BUS,
WARM UP THE BUS,
WARM UP THE BUS!"
-Used at end of games when the outcome is obvious we are going to win. (jiggling keys also encouraged)
"Nananana, nananana, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye.
Nananana, nananana, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye"
or however the song goes. Used at end of games when the outcome is obvious we are going to win.

The Mickey Mouse song after a sweep:
Now it's time to say goodbye to all our company.
M-I-C See ya real soon!
K-E-Y Why? Because we swept you!
M-O-U-S-E
Sing Three Blind Mice when the refs come out on the ice. I believe the band was known to play it occasionally, also.
You-you-you-you yelled at the opposing player all of the way to the penalty box.
(Much more imposing than the See ya' chant when done by the whole crowd and there's no waiting for the door to close. It really got under their helmets.)

A real old one:
"No No, the puck must precede the player!" - Yelled after opponent offsides calls.
I believe that line was immediately followed by the following chant:
"This is a stick!"
"A What?"
"A Stick!"
"Oh, a Stick!"
"This is a puck!"
"A What?"
"A Puck!"
"Oh, a Puck!"

Classis! That one always made me laugh. I could never respond for my laughing.

My all time fave...
"Who's he? NOBODY" during player introductions....newspapers and all.
Passing on the tradition to the Freaklings. They are bringing their own papers for tomorrow night's spanking of Zero State.

Following the counting after a goal, point at the opposing goal and yell "gooo, gooo, gooo."
IE: 1234, We want more, we want more, we want more, go, go, go.

OK, I always thought it was Go but another thread says it was Goal. Which was it? Or does it matter?

I loved that one too. The opposing crowds would just sit there and wonder what they just heard!!!!

I was GO.
A few years later, we added "Sieve, Sieve, Sieve!!!" after the GO's

if you start saying goal faster and faster you'll end up with go. Around where I used to sit it started as goal and eventually ended up at go. I don't think it really matters though.

I remember it ending differently, thereby showing that even after the lesson, they still don't get it...
This is a puck
a what?
A puck
a what?
A PUCK!
Oh, a puck.
This is a stick
a what?
A stick
a what?
A STICK!
Oh, a puck.
that's the version I remember...late 1970's
My favorite of all time is at Harvard...after the visiting team scores a goal the students chant "That's all right, that's OK...you'll all work for US some day.
Close second the last part of the orchestrated Michigan post goal chant...
A telephone rings in the pressbox..."Hey Masters/Sigalet/Horrell/whoever... it's your mother...she says YOU SUCK!" I just about soiled my armor the first time I heard it, but it gets old.

You are probably correct, I was pretty young then. I do know now that there was another line to the each part of the chant as you noted above with the question being asked twice instead of once as in my original post.

After careful thought (tough to do after being so wound up from that win last night....

), I have put together a short list of cheers that were the most common and easy to do. Thought it best to leave out some of the more complicated ones...but anyone who wants to lead a crowd in those....HAVE AT IT!!!
Here's what I've got, Honest Feedback appreciated:
1.) When the opposing players are introduced, EVERYONE holds up newspapers and pretends to read, uninterested in the announcement. After the name is called, pull the paper down and scream, “WHO’S HE? NOBODY!!!” After the announcements are done, everyone throws the crumpled up newspapers up in the air above them….not on the ice!!
2.) When the opposition’s penalty is over and the announcer says: “Ohio State at full strength.” Crowd Response: “THAT’S DEBATABLE!!”
3.) For EVERY off-sides: Yell: “No! No!....the puck must proceed the player!”
4.) After every BG goal, after the fight song ends, Begin the count: “ONE, TWO, THREE….WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE, GO, GO, GO, GO, GO (pointing to the goal)!!!”
5.) After the opposing team scores, Begin a loud slow clap that gets quicker and quicker and ends in GO, GO, GO, GO, GO (pointing to the opposing goal)!!! Drum beat in here is great too!!
6.) Hey (insert name).........You're terrible! And Ugly! And Terrible! And Ugly! …….. AND TERRIBLY UGLY!! Can be done in 2 groups in the same section, Or go back and forth with sections across the ice.
7.) In the event of an impending win: Begin yelling, WARM UP THE BUS! WARM UP THE BUS!!
8.) If the Buckeye fans yell “Let’s Go Bucks,” drown them out with “GO HOME BUCKS!! GO HOME BUCKS!!”
Ok, fans...what do you think?
GO ICERS!!
SWEEEEEEEEEEEP DUH NUTZ!!!
