BG has now beaten the #18, #16, #14, #12 and the #6 teams in the nation.

BTW, BG still isn't ranked.

three of our last five games point to that.

although the games against all those numbery teams, we seem to bring it like a top 10 team, especially at home.

And nor should we be!

I know that sounds strange from an "orange glasses" wearing SOB like me, but until this point, we have simply been too inconsistent to be ranked. Yes, we have beaten all these ranked teams, but we have lost far too many games to Ferris State, Notre Dame, etc. In a couple of weeks I hope to see us ranked, especially after finally beating OSU and the 'Goons, but we simply haven't fully earned it yet.

A sweep of LSSU next weekend would go a loooony way in helping our cause!

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!

At the end of the season, there is only one ranking that really matters. The NC$$ uses the Pairwise rankings to determine the tournament participants. Last time I checked, we were 25th in those rankings. 16 teams make the NC$$'s. A good run through the end of the season and a couple wins in the CCHA playoffs, and it could very well happen. That's when people will really know what BGSU hockey is all about.

As a former goaltender and playing the game, I do know how hard it is to consistently put together a good streak. This team rolled of 6 straight wins and 7 of 8 at one point, which in hockey is just about the best you can do. As my dad stated last night, Michigan will get an at-large bid to the NCAA's based on their name alone and because they travel.

No offense to BG as I am a student and love the hockey team, but it'd be interesting how big of a draw the Falcons would be and more importantly how well the students would travel.

Last night the crowd was amazing and it angers me how people only come out vs. the big named teams, if the Ice Arena was like that every night it'd be the hardest place to play at.

Changing the ways of BGSU students and fans will not happen overnight. But if we can continue to pack the Ice Arena and have the crowd get into the game like they did last night, then you will see a return of when other teams feared coming into BGSU for hockey.

Absolutely!! We USED to pack the arena for every game and it WAS the hardest rink to come into for visiting teams!! We are getting there, people, we REALLY are!!! Just keep coming to the games and supporting the team. We aren't going to win every game, even games we think we should win, no team does, but we ARE headed in the right direction!!! Coming back from Friday's loss and being able to play like they did last night is a great sign of the turnaround that is happening in Falcon Hockey!!

GO FALCONS!!
SINK THE LAKERS!!

Naturally, there is going to be more interest when the big name schools come in. As a student, I experience this each time the hockey team plays, because I go around telling people about the matchups and that they should support the team. But its hard, because who wants to see Ferris State or Lake Superior? I've never even heard of those schools before this year. To the average student living inside Harshman-Dunbar, these schools just aren't interesting. Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State are interesting. Ferris State, Northern Michigan, Nebraska-Omaha, not so much. The only way we will improve attendance for those games is if we have a really good record and are winning.

New (includes results of this weekend) PWR has us tied for #22
We were 25 coming in to the weekend.

Also, keep this in mind when watching those PWR numbers: 16 teams make the NCAA tourny, but since all six conferences get one autobid, and at least two of those spots will go to teams that are not rated in the top 16, numbers 16,15 and maybe 14 and 13 will get left out of the dance.

Bottom line...our best chance to get into the NCAA's is to win the CCHA tourny and get the autobid. I like the 5-6-7 seed in our conference, we'd get an opening round series at home, then get somebody other than Miami for the second round on the road...I hate to say it, but we don't match up well against Miami for a three game series down there.
