It was a very exciting game. First thanks to all who came to Pazzo's before the game. It was great to hang out with some BG fans for a while.

BG played an oustanding game, with a decent chance to win it in regulation. At home the game would have been won. Poor calling in the second half really hurt. Several instances where the refs just didn't pay attention (one jump ball, and failing to acknowledge a timeout call). Ali was huge. Just drove to the board with a lot of authority. BG did a good job holding Sarah Elliot and Sam Mahoney in the game. Neither of them had above avg games. If I'm not mistaken BG held the 6'6" elliot to only 4pts in the first half. Kate fouling out hurt in OT, and Carrin having to sit for a bit due to being a bit shaken up took some toll. In my opinion what hurt was fouling with 36s left in OT, when UK was in the double bonus and only down 2pts. BG put a lot of defensive pressure on UK in the game and really made UK work for their shots, many were hurried with under 3s left on the clock. I think had BG not fouled they could have stood a better chance of getting the ball back and either tying the game or even taking the lead.

What more can I say other than a really exciting game. I got to take my oldest daughter and she had a blast, (though any thought of instilling any athletic desire in her is slim  ) Meeting several players parents is always fun. I hope everyone had a safe drive home. Pictures to be posted tomorrow.

First off, thank you to everyone that made the trip - parents, Anderson Animals and BG alumni here in Kentucky. I was more than pleasantly surpirised by the crowd we had in Pazzo's considering the OSU-ND game was on, the weather was nasty, and it was the day after New Year's. I think it really shows the enthusiasm BG seems to be generating on all fronts.

Now as for the game, BG did play a hard fought game that they could have very easily won if only a shot or two fell. Ali was awesome. Liz and Carin were solid as always. And Jasmine McCall impressed me with her play when Kate got into foul trouble. With that said, the game's outcome did not surprise me to much, after all its was played at an SEC venue. There were a lot of "no calls" that should have been called against UK and even a handful of questionable calls against BG. Specifically, I can think of steal Carin made in the OT from Pfeiffer and then Pfeiffer fell on Carin and the refs called Horne for the foul. There was also Kate's fifth foul that was just the sort of ticky tack call that BG didn't seem to get in their favor all night. Despite the lopsided "fouls", BG hung tough and had a shot to win the game on Horne's attempt to end regulation.

Anyways, great job Falcons! A 9-2 OOC record is nothing to sneeze at. I look forward to following the Falcons throughout the MAC portion of the schedule. Oh yeah, and pictures from the pregame and game to come tomorrow.

A question for those that were at the game. I noticed in the box score that UK shot 25 free throws and made and we only shot 10. Was this do to our shooting more from the outside and not forcing the action, or were there no calls that we should have gotten. In a close game like this one, free throws make a world of a difference. We shot a good percentage, but shot 15 fewer, and made 10 fewer. Just a question, because I can't make any of the games, so I don't really know how we played the game. I do see we shot 25 threes, which I don't have a problem with if they are open shots. A great effort none the less from the girls. Great job ladies.

I kind of described this situation and the SEC refereeing in my previous post. In the first half, I felt the game was called pretty evenly. However in the second half, when Ali and company forced the action inside, she didn't get many calls. Conversely, if UK sent the ball inside, even the lightest of touches seemd to be called against BG. With this said, if Carin hit the difficult shot at the end of regulation BG leaves Lexington with a W. All in all, it was a great effort from BG.

If you look again, you'll notice everyone is facing away from the TV. Plus, I think the Achter's and others (myself included) were cheering for Notre Dame to win. It's also probably needless to say, but none of us saw the end of the game because we had a more important game to go to at Memorial.

You, who didn't bother to drive down to the game and talk about how to get into games for free, are harrassing students who drove down over 4 hours, paid to get a hotel room, let alone to watch the game, for being in a bar, serving other people for having a bowl game on. How about those of us who put the event together and worked hard to get as many locals to come to this game as possible. I think I can drink a damn pitcher of beer and watch a football game at 5:00.

Edit:Removed rant that was a bit combatitive. Just felt good to write it.

Excellent thinking there. I was asked 20 times yesterday at work if I watched the Bucks/ND game. Told them no cuz I was listening to the BG/UK game on the net. Most rolled their eyes at me. Screw 'em. Seems everyone around here cannot believe I don't root for OSU, in addition to BG. "But you live in Ohio". So what?????
