Bethany Kenel Named MAC Specialist Of The Week

Earns first MAC Specialist award of her career

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University gymnast Bethany Kenel has been named Mid American Conference Specialist of the Week according to the conference office (Jan. 24) for her efforts in the victory over Central Michigan this past weekend.

Kenel preformed a solid routine and nailed a difficult dismount, to place first on the beam with a score of 9.825. This ties her personal best, which was set March 25, 2005. Kenel was the last gymnast to perform on the beam as the Falcons were holding onto a slim lead. With the combination of Jessica Guyer's routine and Kenel, the Falcons would go on to win the meet, and knock off the defending regular season MAC champions.

Kenel and the Falcons will stay at home this weekend, as they take on Illinois State Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Eppler Complex.

B has had some rough injury spots in her BGSU career and I am more than pleased that she has earned this honor. This is an exciting team that has the potential to do great things this year. If you don't go to a meet, you are missing out on a lot of fun.
