Preholiday results:

Stow Bulldogs 7-0 as Liana Jennings scores 19 in a little over a half in their 61-39 over Brush.

Wadsworth 6-1 as Jennifer Uhl scores 13 with one three in a half as Grizz blow by Barberton 80-29.

Dublin Scioto 66-41 over Watkins Memorial. Crystal Murdaugh 17 with three threes.

And Jonathan Alder won. They defeated Grove City 69-53. Lauren Prochaska was held to 41!! Yep, ONLY forty one.

Happy holidays and go Falcons!

Only 41? I'd pull her offer.

J4H,
Interesting part of the above is that Wadsworth plays AT Stow this coming Friday... I'd like to see L. Jennings play in the high powered tournament to be played at Garf.Hts. starting Wed., but I've got another commitment that conflicts... But hoop junkies might want to look up the article in the PD, via Cleve.com to see the quality teams in this tournament.

61 and others, I will help you on the big early season game at Stow this weekend. You are right on- it was highly rated Wadsworth facing the undefeated Stow Bulldogs.

Wadsworth won in the last second 52-51 to move to 8-1. Stow fell to 8-1. The two play in different leagues; Wadsworth is in the Suburban League ansd Stow is in the WRC. The teams could certainly meet again in the state tourney. The Grizzlies struggled in the first half trailing 26-18 but roared back in the second half. The winning basket was scored in close by EMU signee Cassie Schrock for Wadsworth.

But it was BG early signee Jen Uhl who led the way for the winners as she had 21 with a key 5 of 6 free throws. Stow's All Stater and BG signee Liana Jennings was their leader again with 15 points. As I may have mentioned, Uhl and Jennings are good friends (when they are not playing each other) and have played a lot of AAU ball together. This should help their chemistry (and the team's) at BG next season.

In other recent results for incoming BG players, Bianca Hooten scored 15 as Canton McKinley defeated Glen Oak 50-38 to go to 6-4 on the year.

Dublin Scioto continues to roll behind Crystal Murdaugh. She had 24 with a three point goal to lead her undefeated team past Hilliard Davidson 65-45.

Laurn Prochaska and her Jonathan Alder teammates took a long trip into NE Ohio to face Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown. They lost 63-51. Lauren hit three three pont shots and scored 30 of their 51.

Morton IL point guard Tracy Pontius has guided her team to an outstanding 14-1 record playing in one of the toughest girl's basketball areas in the country. This weekend, Morton defeated Galesburg 49-47 in a Bloomington, IL down state holiday tourney on Friday. Saturday they had a rematch with defending state champion Bolingbrook in the title game. Morton handed Bolingbrook its only loss this season 44-42 in November. This time Bbrook hammered Tracy's team 58-28. It was Morton first loss and Tracy was the only player in double figures with 11. Bbrook has three D1 early signees in their line up including a 6-3 post going to Purdue.

Waynedale's Kelly Zuercher was a BG visitor today taking in BG's win over Robert Morris with Wadsworth's Jennifer Uhl. Zuercher is a physical 6-2 and her team was undefeated at last report.

Happy New Year!

BG signee Uhl......

Post by Falconboy »

Yeah, I saw Wadsworth's Jen Uhl as well sitting behind the BG bench. I didn't remember seeing another tall girl at the game though. Uhl walked in with her Wadsworth letterjacket and easily looked 6'1 so it was easy to spot her.

On our currant freshman, it was nice to see Clapper get going with 2 3 bombs in the 2nd half of the RM game. She's got a nice stroke. Expect to see her more as time goes on with Talor out with MCL or ACL injury.

Prochaska is averaging 29 points per game and against Division I competition she's averaging 32 points. Looks like she's a very good get by Miller.

It looks like most everyone around her thought she was a lock for OSU. For some reason, OSU delayed offering, and we swept in and took her away. We'll need her to score right away next year.

It sounds like she's a slasher, and gets most of her points around the bucket and from the line. I haven't heard much about if her outside shot is any good or not.

I think she's the jewel of the class, but who knows about any of the kids until they get up against college competition.

If OSU was even somewhat considering offering Prochaska then she's an amazing grab my Miller. I did read some posts on Yappi sports forum that some people were debating whether Prochaska was OSU material. Some cited she's wasn't quite as athletic as needed by an OSU program, but whatever souns like a awesome get nonetheless and I'm even jacked for next year.

From the Columbus Dispatch

Prochaska’s 47 points top her previous Alder record
Sunday, January 07, 2007

Lauren Prochaska set a school record by scoring 47 points to lead Jonathan Alder (6-5) past Fairbanks (6-6), 72-34 yesterday in a nonleague game.

Prochaska topped her own record of 41, which she set last season. She was 19 of 31 from the field and 8 of 10 at the foul line.

tricky, thanks for that Prochaska update. She needed to play most of the game as her team didn't actually pull away until the fourth quarter. 47 is a bunch against anybody.

To update our fans after two big BG women bball wins this week, I add the following:

Bianca Hooten played a half as Canton Mckinley hammered Jackson. Pretty good half with 15 including 4 of 5 three pointers!

Stow lost to another Plain Dealer Top 20 team as Solon edged them 43-42. Stow is 8-2 with both losses by one point. Liana Jennings had a good game with 19.

Wadsworth's Grizzlies rolled over Perry 74-55 to go to 10-1. Jennifer Uhl had 21 with three threes from the six footer.

Crystal Murdaugh played a half and scored 13 with a three as Dublin Scioto blew away Olentangy Liberty 69-24 to stay undefeated.

Waynedale's Kelly Zuercher led her team with 24 from her post spot as they defeated Rittman 56-37. They are 8-1 on the year.

Zuercher keeps pretty close track of her future team. She watched her second straight Falcon game at Akron and sat with future teammate Jennings as the Falcons dismantled the Zips.

Wrong forum- but Martin Samarco today- wow!

Go Falcons!

I saw a girl with a stow shirt on at the game Saturday. I assumed at the time it was Liana. I was happy to see here there.

Keep the updates comin! These girls all seem extremely consistent.
