New bracketology

Post by NY-BG-FAN »

BG as a 7 seed in the Fresno regional playing Mississippi. In the Hartford pod...opposite 2 seed UConn. Personally, I like a nice 12 seed to avoid potential matchups like that so early in the tourney. Glad BG is getting good recognition, but it's not fair a team as good as BG would have to hypothetically play on the freakin road at UConn in the second round of the tourney. Obvioiusly it's just an early projection that doesn't mean anything, but still....not that we couldn't beat UConn at their place.

I totally agree with your thinking.....but if you're going to go into a double digit seed that might be "comfy"......11 is where it's at. Much the way that 6 is the magic number for the single digit seeds.

6 vs. 11 plays the winner of 3 vs. 14 in round 2. The types of teams that would wind up in those particular seeds are teams that BG can do serious damage to. Then again, seeding doesn't really matter much because by the time March arrives, about the only teams in the country that wouldn't say "Oh Sh*t, we have to play THEM???" when it comes to seeing BG in the bracket are Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, and maybe Connecticut...but in their case, only because Gino has zero respect for anyone they play.

I think we know that Duke would prefer to not see Orange and Brown anymore this season.

Hartford would be horrible with UConn in the 2nd round...that'd be a tough game for our ladies and obviously a home game for the Huskies. Hopefully the women can work their way into the Pittsburgh regional.

Jerry Palm's first bracket has us as a 5 seed in the Minnesota region.

He also has Ball State as an at-large 11 seed. That would be a pretty big coup for the MAC. I guess I'll root for Ball State against NIU tonight.

BSU is still undefeated in MAC play after pasting Miami by 28 today.

Also, we were the only East team to win today. That's not good for our RPI, since we play all the East teams twice.
