NIU
Lost yesterday at Kent by 7.
Overall record: 16-7. MAC record 7-4. Home record: 8-1.
Last home loss: 11/14/06.
Undeated at home in MAC play. This will be a tough matchup for the Falcons. NIU is billing this a huge game and there will be a very hostile crowd.
Let's talk about it. On paper, give BG the edge. This being a home game for NIU is a HUGE equalizer.
I'm not comfortable with the potential outcome of this game.

Re: NIU
If you were to look at our MAC Schedule at the beginning of conference play, there were likely three games in particular that stood out, @ Eastern Michigan, vs Ball State, and @ Northern Illinois. These were the three biggest roadblocks on the way to an undefeated conference schedule. Back previously, I had said that nobody could beat us within the MAC. My heart says that 19-0 is on the way, but my brain is squirming a bit just thinking about this game. It's going to be a weekend game, against a quality opponent, on the road in what could be a very hostile environment since for once we won't have any of our fans there. (I think that's been a big problem for opposing teams, we've been packing away arenas, especially EMU and Akron).Rightupinthere wrote:Lost yesterday at Kent by 7.

If NIU wins it, I'll be surprised, but not as surprised as I would have been a few weeks ago. I think for the Huskies to beat us, they will have to lead by at least 10 with 8 minutes left, or by at least 7 with 4 minutes left, because I don't see anybody in the entire country outside of maybe 5-10 teams beating us heads-up with the game on the line. Our experience and depth is just too overpowering at the critical ends of games.

I'm very confident and very nervous at the same time. I guess I'm confivous. Or nervident. Whatever.
Mary Basic is a nice wing player. Stephanie Raymond is a very good shooter and finisher, but has historically struggled for long stretches against us. Kristin Wiener has the best name in the MAC, but she's also a very big and good post player. That's right, NIU relies on a big wiener to get the job done. We should all be that lucky.
All 3 players I mentioned are Seniors. They know how to win, and they know how to play against BG. This is going to be a very tough win to come away with, especially in the hell-hole known as Dekalb. I hope we win, and then raze the entire town on our way out.

This will be a very tough game. But I think our SR's and the rest of the team will be ready and withstand another challenge. Get past NIU and I think the only team that could beat us the rest of the way is Kent State. The Flashes only have 2 MAC losses and have quietly been winning.
GO FALCONS!!!! BRING HOME ANOTHER MAC WIN!!! BEAT NIU~

I don't know about Kent State. Yeah they've been doing okay, but IMO, they are probably in the mix for 3rd best team in the conference, where you have a huge dropoff in talent behind Bowling Green and Ball State. I was at AA for our first game against Kent and they didn't strike me as very impressive at all. They didn't shoot well, they weren't that great at defense, and they couldn't protect the basketball to save their lives. Maybe they were just feeling themselves out at that point and now they've turned a corner, but I find it hard to imagine them beating us.Falconfreak90 wrote:This will be a very tough game.
