Incoming Illinois Point Leads Team to State/ Receives Honor

Post by falconfan1 »

Tracy Pontius of Morton (IL) HS has lead her team to the Final Eight for the state. The Potters are 25-1 and entered the tourney ranked sixth. Their only loss is to the current number one Bolingbrook. They also handed Bolingbrook their only loss this year in an early season match up.

Bolingbrook looms again in the state semifinal IF Morton can get past a super Buffalo Grove team this Friday.

Tracy was named first team All State Class AA. To help put this honor in perspective, three of the five girls on this all state squad will play in the McDonald's HS All-American game this year- and Tracy received more all state votes than two of those players. I realize this is a subjective assessment, but this vote and honor would make her the number one point guard in Illinois.

All the best to the Potters, but, no matter how the final games go, the team and Tracy have had an incredible year.

Go Falcons!

A good read. Sets up a possible regional final w/ my Hoover Vikings.
BTW, Swoop, what happened to the Grizzlies' chance to exact revenge on teh Vikings? :)

Ooops. FF1 was telling me all about this Prontius girl at the BG/Kent game in Kent. This class is shaping up to be incredible.

Good updates!

Looking at the team picture after the game...it looks like Stow has Liz Honegger (or her "little" sister) on their roster!

Tracy Pontius' oustanding HS career ended with a defeat in the Illinois state final consolation game vs Chicago Heights Marian 63-59 in overtime. She had a huge game with 27 points and her team finished 31-3 with two of the defeats at the hands of number one Bolingbrook.

The Potters got to the final four with a big win over Buffalo Grove. In the semifinal, they were up against number one Bolingbrook and the coaching staff went to a different system to try to pull off the upset. It backfired when the Potters fell behind at the half by a 12-6 count and just couldn't regain the offensive flow in the second half.

In other incoming recuit news (pardon me if this is posted elsewhere), Crystal Murdaugh and undefeated Dublin Scioto got a two point win over Lindsay Goldsberry's Chaminade-Julienne team in the regional semi. Crystal had 22 points, 7 boards and 2 blocks.

Post Kelly Zuercher had a huge tournament but her Waynedale team fell to Delphos St John's in a close one. She had 24 in her final game.

Alder's Lauren Prochaska closed out her career with 26 in a district loss to Marion Pleasant. I assume she must have finished in the top three or four in all time state scoring after totaling 78 points in her final two games.

Go Falcons!
