We passed through BG Kentucky a couple years ago on the way home from the GMAC Bowl. It was basically white out conditions and we almost didn't survive the trip, but the place didn't seem like even a good place to take a dump.
I don't wanna talk any smack about the WKU team cause if anyone could lose to them its us (at least last year's team anyways).
You say Mid Tenn is looking for a new conference, what conference is it that they are trying for? If its the M.A.C., I think you would be a much better fit than MTSU. We could use some competition within the league for Women's hoops.
Possible Game with Middle Tennessee?
I don't know for sure if we're actively looking to change conferences, but some of our fans would like to change. The MAC would be nice to give us better FB teams to play, but we don't dominate our league yet so I think that's unneccessary right now. It would be nice to get into a better RPI conference for womens hoops, but the SunBelt is okay right now. I think if we did change conferences the logical choices would be the MAC or CUSA. We're not quite ready for either, we only been D-1 for a handful of years.

Still love the sig, Jfh2c! We will always be America's team because even Graham Hays knows that while we are gone this year, we will return many times over.
As far as a game with Bowling Green, their administration has been approached by ours. BGSU is not interested in a series at this time. For that matter, neither is Louisiana Tech. I would think the only reason we were turned down by those schools is that they could not accomodate us on a time frame we were seeking. Perhaps latter down the road we may see them.
In the 2008-2009 season we are supposed to begin a series with George Washington.
As far as conference affiliation is concerned, I guess the Sun Belt is okay but I wouldn't mind seeing us in the MAC. We passed Bowling Green's football stadium on our way to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl back in December.

If the Big East were add Memphis or Central Florida in the future, then there would seem to be a ripple effect that could present an opportunity for members of the Sun Belt to move to Conference USA.
From what I remember reading, North Texas and Louisiana Tech got close looks in the last round of changes, but Conference USA decided on Texas-El Paso to get to 12.
As far as the MAC and Western Kentucky -- it does seem that both sides were toying with the idea about a year ago, but there doesn't seem to be anything active now. BGSU87 believes the MAC presidents wouldn't go for it at this particular point in time, and that makes sense to me.
That said, if the MAC needed to add programs, Western Kentucky would be an obvious place to look, and if the math worked for us, Middle Tennessee would be a natural travel partner.
Finally: As weak of a position as the MAC seems to be in if another round of conference shuffling were to happen, the Sun Belt is in even more of a fix.
Look at programs like Arkansas State or Louisiana-Lafayette. They've been playing I-A football pretty much since the 1970s, and it's been an endless shuffle -- independence, then the Big West, then independence, then the WAC. Finally, they have the Sun Belt, which is a situation that makes some sense for them. I hope they can hold it together.

In one thread we're talking about possible matchups we'd like to see in the future. One poster mentioned he'd love to see a matchup with you guys.
"I would really like to see us play Bowling Green State. They are a quality team from a mid-major conference. They are basically in our same boat. I think instead of waiting on big conference schools to do us a favor and schedule us, we should set up rivalries with other quality mid-majors. I also think that due to both teams' recent success ESPN might consider televising such a matchup."
Come check it out and give us some of your insight. We always love to have other fans discuss WCBB with us.

We'd like to schedule a game but we have to clear it with our conference commissioner first.

Are you kidding me?jfh2c wrote:I'm sure that they started those rumors. I am sure you'll wipe their football team off the map. We play them also. I honestly think that they might not win a game next year.
From what I've heard we are basically in competition with them to move conferences. So, I guess it depends on which schools athletics are in better position. Personally, I would think it's us because they are not even in D-1 in football yet. They are finally building the other half of their football stadium. Before these recent improvements their "Stadium" was just a field with a set of seats on one side. It looked a lot like a weak high school. As I said we hate them a lot, almost as much as I hate Vanderbilt... speaking of... I love you guys for beating Vandy.
WKU's schedule has six non I-A games, I think we'll win those.
Second, WKU and MTSU are not in "competition" to move conferences. I dare say, they'd likely go as a package.
Before our renovation, our one-sided stadium seated 18K people... that's a little more than a "weak high school".
