Those are the words of a future successful coach. If she wants to go in that direction, I can see her as the head coach of a Division 1 program within 5-6 years.
EDIT: I posted Kate's quote....i just don't know how to put it in here without it saying that Kate posted it.

We didn't commit turnovers, didn't miss free throws, and played very fundamentally sound basketball for most of the game. It was just that whenever we had a chance to take the lead, ND would come back with another big shot, one after another. And the buzzer beater to win was well defended, but they made the tough shot anyway.
There's no reason to be down about this one. If we learned anything tonight, its that we are on par with a top level team in women's college basketball, and that we are the favorites to win the MAC for a 4th time in a row.
GREAT JOB LADIES!!!
P.S. Kate Achter is a warrior.
Yep...I was lucky enough to catch most of the second half on tv...this game was going to be won by whomever had the last shot. ND ran it down and hit a tough shot over two defenders...not much you can do about that. Our kids did their job but ND did their's too. That #23 was TOUGH
What impressed me most was the compsure our women showed. They did not play like a young team at all. You have to attribute that to the coaching staff and senior leadership.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I had similar "coach speak" thoughts on those comments as well, "bgwomenbbfan". Perhaps a grad. assistant following graduation???

Yeah - Miller has made a big deal of recruiting players with a certain type of character. All of the kids he recruits now know they are here to win championships and play in big games right off the bat.

I'd love to see her take that path. Even more if Curt will have an opening on his staff for a Grad Assistant.
The story on the techs is this: Curt thought we were getting hosed on some of the foul calls, and on one call that was particularly head-scratch-worthy, he let the referee know, forcefully, and got T-ed.
The one on ND was on a player who wouldn't shut her mouth towards the official.
That, right there, is the difference between our team and a lot of others out there. It's one thing for a coach to get T-ed up, but players should not be talking back like that to the officials. That's a discipline issue.

Speaking of fouls, from where the band was seated, it sure did seem like those refs were very whistle happy. A couple calls seemed to take the game right away from us near the end. Luckily we battled back, and some calls helped us back into the game. I hate refs who can't keep the whistle away from their face.
Prochaska: Kept us in the game eraly on when she made what seemed like 20 3 pointers in a row.
Free throw shooting = unbelievable
The best part is there was no one 'hero' last night. The whole team was incredible. For freshman to go out there and take it to a team like ND was awesome. I hope we can start getting four or five games a year like that inside AA.
The worst call of the night was that one on Lindsey when someone was shooting foul shots. Numerous people around me thought that was one of the best box outs they had ever seen
I think also up for the nomination of "worst call of the night" would have to be the girl doing a swan dive through the paint and getting the call with the game on the line. Seriously, I'm no basketball expert, but that was ridiculous.
Even a CCHA ref would've called that a dive!

The rest of the Mac and well as the rest of College Women's Basketball have been put on notice, that BGSU women's basketball is not going away. Unbelievable effort and poise by the most amazing freshman class Curt Miller has ever assembled. ND is extremely lucky to escape the Anderson Arena with a win. ND won each half and the OT by only 2 pts. ND has crushed 2 Mac opponents by 53 and 48 and a BC team by 30 something. 4 players in double figures Kate with 20, Prochaska 18, Breske 10, Crystal Murdaugh with 14. A great well rounded scoring effort. This team people is gonna be absolutely SCARY for years to come. Not to look too far ahead , but next year is gonna be sick. If we play this well at Indiana, we will own them no question.
What can I say about this years freshman class, from lights out shooting by Porchaska in the 1st half to big 3's by Pontius and huge FT's by Murdaugh (who still has the most bizzare shooting form of all time) late in crunch time. I have to give props to the students who finally made an appearance in somewhat mass to Anderson for a women's game. 2,228 seems real low as Anderson looked more packed than I've ever seen for a women's game under Miller. Despite this tough loss, the future of this team looks as bright as ever. I'll say it again, a 4th straight Mac title is ours for the taking. Time to get on the bandwagon if you haven't already.

That would be awesome, after a few years playing in the WNBA or Pro Europe somewhere. She's just about got all the tools. She's even slowly developing a 3pt shot. If that one guard from NIU or Miami can get drafted , Kates got a shot at least.

It continually amazes me that referees at all levels of basketball continue to make that call late in games. If a player drives with the ball and falls down on his/her own, its NOT A FOUL ON THE DEFENSE!!! I watched the Cavaliers get robbed blind in a game against Boston I think last year because the Celtics got that exact call with about 2.4 seconds left. At least the foul shooter for ND only made 1-2, if she had made both, then you could make a case that the call cost us the game. Thank goodness for that.

lol...Stephanie Raymond is who you are thinking of and yes, if she can last a full season in the WNBA....in the regular rotation no less, then Kate could have a wonderful career in that league. Especially considering how incredibly weak the PG position is in the W. AND this is an expansion year which opens up at least 2 or 3 jobs at the position. However, I still think she's got 'coach" written all over her and, again, if that's what she wants, she'll get offers immediately to join someone's staff as a Grad Asst.
